Thanks KMC. If you want to get a thread started I’ll join in. Call me Steve.[/quote]
hey steve call me sally… i mean MEAT!!
looks like the program is work’n. how’s the weight loss going? i tried really hard to get down to 250 for the comp, but i was 6 pounds short. i’m sitting at about 260 right now and feel’n good.
Sally, I’m stuck at 260. The kids hockey season started so I’ve been eating poorly on the weekends travelling around to games/tournaments. But I’m back on the wagon. Hope to be in the 250s soon.
I talk to you guys here more then most of my friends so I thought my real name would be more appropriate.
Gave blood today. I forced myself to do it because I hate needles. Some dying slob better appreciate it.

you can call me Scott bro.
i’m liking the 260’s right now. i want to keep my strength and get healed up. i’ve kinda lost interest in the bodybuilding crap right now. i think it’s mostly because i want to lift heavy shit and can’t right now.

That’s because your frame can’t handle that weight!

I did a lot of really light militaries and db cleans before I jumped into my working sets the other day. I found that if I squeeze the bar hard and tense the abs/glutes/legs the shoulder doesn’t ache as bad. And I use a very close grip. Only and inch or so from the smooth part of the bar.
Thanks guys. I’m going to either make a fat bar or order fat gripz hopefully this weekend. I’ve been reading about the benefits of fat bar training and it sounds interesting.

In my role as “rain-on-your-parade” guy, I think that stuff is overrated unless you have an interest in
specifically improving your grip
training for strongman competition where think-handled implements are used
Thick-handle work will reduce the poundages you can use in the main exercises and you’ll lose stimulation of the major muscles doing it exclusively.
Other than that, it’s a truckload of fun - I like my Rolling Thunder, used to do vertical bar DLs with an Olympic sleeve and 1-hand rows holding the oly bar’s end. Very challenging.
Steve- Sorry for being late. That 175x17 is insane. Awesome work! You never fail to inspire…
For full disclosure - I go by Skip. Now you know why I like Strick Skip sounds like a name that belongs to someone who get stuck under an unloaded bar…and a standard bar at that.
