When I got home last night I was confronted by my wife telling me she doesn’t feel comfortable with me taking suppliments(curcumin)I’ve received in the mail. Something about FDA approval and possible kidney,liver or cardiac failure. I still took it but it threw my positive attitude out the window. I’ll be keeping my suppliments at work from now on.

I take an assload of vitimans and suppliments as well. Its stuff for my liver functions, and heart stuff, melatonin to help me sleep, workout shit. My wife makes all these little 'under the breath" comments about them… DAMN that gets old!!!

There must have been something in the air with wives last night. Mine wasn’t regarding supplements, but it was regarding training etc. This is while I am trying to mow the lawn, clean the basement, put the kid down to bed, etc. Finally sat down to eat at 9 and she made another comment. I retreated to my ‘mancave’ in the basement and watched ‘Rescue Me.’
yeah… the vast majority of the population is ignorant to supplementation. I think the biggest ignorance is around male Hormone Therapy. When women go through menapause, they go on estrogen replacement and it’s no big deal. Men go through a similiar shutdown in middle age or even younger.
If a man wants to go on Testosterone Replacement they suddenly are a druggy. doesn’t make any sense to me. The stigma attached to things like Testosterone and HGH is rediculious.
Thankfully my girlfriend is very tolerant of my kitchen-counter-full of supplement bottles (whey, fish oil, resveratrol, Alpha Male, cinnulin, 5-HTP, GABA, BCAA, ZMA, something for allergies, something to help the resveratrol absorb).
She does occasionally rib me about the number of pills I take. I think I’m over 20/day now even without the 12 BCAAs I take on workout days.
My wife is suspicious of some supplements but being in science(she is a microbiologist) she’ll look at whats in the stuff before saying anything. Some times she actually says “Yeah taking that is a good idea”.\

I always have my stuff shipped to the office, and I keep it at the office. I think my wife wants me to be a marathoner/vegitarian. You know how many pounds I’d have to lose to achieve that “Dachau” runner’s look?
Guess I’m lucky. I have the opposite problem. Everytime the wife sees or reads something good about a new vitamin, mineral, supplement, plant, insect,etc, it’s “maybe you should take that.” If it was up to her I’d be taking 50 pills a day, grazing on grass, and washing it down with cod liver oil. She’s never bothered me about gym time. Now she’s going with me.

Sounds like the wives and girlfriends are just worried about our health either pushing suppliments or questioning the safety of them. At least they care about our well being.
I had a housefull when I got home yesterday: nieces,nephew and the inlaws. So I did the bare essentials and had dinner with the gang. My father-in-law sat on a bench and watched me my entire workout. I love the guy but it made me rush.
The jury is still out on the top squat. My wrists and shoulders didn’t have the pain I usually experience with higher rep(5+) squats. The weight sits high which I’m not used to and made me feel unsteady at times. At the very least I’ll use it for GMs.
This will be the third day on the curcumin. I think my knees and back ache a little less but it may all be in my head.

Thanks Pete. I think I like the pin squats. But I may be doing more of a GM-squat hybrid then a true squat. Its hard to get a breath in when you’re paused on the bottom. So my breathing gets out of rhythm a little. I got real dizzy with 495 yesterday. I have the feeling even if I don’t get any stronger doing these they’ll at least toughen me up.
Snails pace? Those pin squats are freakin’ beastly. Have a good weekend Eco. I am going to try and enjoy some cold beer and grilled food tonight, been thinking about it all week… thanks to you.

Very disappointed with the rack pulls.585 3x3 was fairly easy last week. Thought I would get 635 today. But after missing 635 twice and then 605 I figured I’d just do reps with 495. My back was fried for the GMs. I’m taking a de-load week after Wednesday. No mini-meet next weekend.
