Meat, I use the same setup as if I were full ROM benching. Nothing weird in my setup I can think of. I’ll get a video next Sunday. I hope I’m doing something wrong.
Thanks LS. Some great benching going on over on your thread.
i’m speaking more towards what you are doing with the actual board. yeah… a vid will tell me everything i need to know.
Who ever thought lifting would be so complicated. Shoulder health, glute activetion, sit back when you squat, sumo or regular dead, shoulder blades pinched when benching, proper arch, knees out, the list gets longer the more I read.

now… i DON’T sit back when i squat:) i’ve actually been thinking about writing a short article on the raw squat. i feel there’s a lot of misconceptions about it, like sitting back and having the lower leg perpendicular to the floor. i’ve even been guilty of preaching these things. lately i’ve found a really cool trick when squatting with wraps. my stance with wraps is almost an olympic squat stance. i’ve found that when i wrap up, i like to have (gasp) my knees roll out over my feet. now this is only with wraps. i find that doing this really puts the wraps on a bind and gives me a TON of resistance in the bottom. it’s almost like the weight becomes weightless at the bottom and then i have a huge rebound out of the hole. crazy huh??

Is it bad to use wraps all the time with heavy (85% or more) weights? I use a belt with 405 or more so I wasn’t sure about the knee wraps.
MJ, hijack any time you like.
i use two different pairs of knee wraps. i have a pair of Inzer ones that are pretty much glorified ace bandages. i use them really loose with 405 and 495. then when i move to 585 and above i use a pair of heavy APT knee wraps. i wrap them loose for 585 and then when i go for my working weight i tork them down.

Thanks. I’ll be doing the same.
MJ, maybe something late fall or early winter. There aren’t many full meets around here just push-pull. I would like to get my squat to depth and hit a full meet. I had fun pulling the sled around listening to my ipod last evening. It was my get away from the noise of four kids(2 mine, niece and nephew).
8/5
RE squat 405x10
pin squat 315x3,405 3x3 (37.5 inches off the ground)
lunges 2 sets
plyo jumps 3 sets
military press 185x3,205x3,225x1,135x16
All around a tough workout. The pin squats were the hardest exercise I can remeber doing. My first rep was like a GM-squat hybrid but the next two reps felt better. The lunges showed how bad my balance is. Lastly, military press after squats may be a bad idea unless I make it an RE workout. This workout is either going to do wonders for me or kill me.

Anderson - or pin - squats are the toughest squat I know of. There is NOTHING to help you out of the hole but your own determination to make the weight go up. It worsens the lower you start, too. Weights drop off rapidly with descending pin heights. Takes a REAL man to do them (buffs fingernails on chest then admires them).
Damn, 37.5" off the ground. See why you had to GM it. The plyos after the squats and lunges must have felt good. Mil press is going great. All around good workout, if you survive that is.
It must have been funny watching me get under that bar. My youngest son was laughing at the grunts and other noises I was making. The pin (or anderson) squat really tests your will to get out of the hole.
I do all shoulder pressing standing. Not because I’m against seated, I just don’t have a good bench to use. I think you’ll like the low Andersen squats. Very challenging.
The front andersons are crazy- I usually set them up facing out of the rack- but the comrade set them facing the mirror- My neck turned purple while I saw stars
It takes a REAL man or a genetic mutant albino.
