Thanks Willy.
Today:
close grip bench 315x5,335x3,350x3,275x10
floor press 225x5,315x3,2,1,225x8
1.BB row 5 sets 10 reps
2.rolling tris 40’s 4 sets 10 reps, reverse rolling tris 135x10
Going to get to 405 on the CGB hopefully soon. Tried reverse rolling tris with a straight bar. They felt OK. Had a protein powder, milk, banana and strawberry shake in the blender. It was like desert. Dragging the tire later.
Sweet Jesus H. Gonzales dude-- nice squattin!
I need some big dudes up here to work out with man. Why don’t you move up here to the dark side of the Maple Curtain. You’ll eventually get used to the tax rape, but, man, we’d have some awesome lifting.
Edit:
Nice CGBP’s too! How close is your grip on those? You go all the way to chest?
Thanks Dan.
Steely, I’ll check with my wife and see what she says about moving to Maine. If I had a training partner like you I would be 50 lbs stronger on all my lifts. With the CGB my index fingers are just touching the inner smooth part of the bar. So I guess a little less then shoulder width. And I do touch my chest.
just watched the squat vid… very strong but you did cut it a bit high. camera angle never helps but they were a bit high. i give you bonus points for the power goatee though:) you should set up a box and experiment to find parallel. once you find it, practice just touching the box. when you do touch, make mental notes of what your body is doing. i can always tell when i hit parallel because my belt will cut into my hips. it’s all about getting feedback from your body when you hit it.
very strong though. i have no doubt that you can hit dept with the same power.
Squat vid is great. Meat is right. I’ve seen Jimmy T squat to that depth but he knows exactly when he’s paralell. The best to ya.
eco- You gonna come up and to do the “Maine Iron Bash” in Freeport this year? I think it’s July 18. APA/WPA federation.
First day back from vacation. This work thing is for the birds. Buying powerball tickets this week.
SteelyD, not gonna make it to Maine this year man. Maybe a local meet in the fall. How about you?

Not competing this year, but I’m going to try to attend just to see it-- I only live like 25-30 minutes from Freeport.

A1. CGB 285x5,315x5,335x5,225x15
A2. BB row 285x5,315x5,335x5,225x15
B1. dips 90x5,5,5 BWx15
B2. chin up BWx5,5,5 cheatx5
C1. face pull 50x15,15,15
c2. pushup 15,15,15
I figure my BB row needs to be at least as good as my CGB. Shoulder is feeling 100%. After this CGB cycle back to regular bench.
385x5 on Close Grip Bench?? Holy cow! That is awesome… To use an often quoted line - when I grow up, I wanna be like you!

That’s the funny thing: We all know how strong you are and so totally believed it.

Oh, well that just changes everything. I take it all back…lol. So it was ONLY 335x5, on the high end. Let me see…on a very good day, that is exactly 100# more than I can do for 5 reps.
Awesome work!

LS, sorry I lied to you. My bench numbers have been stuck for a long time and I’m hoping these CGB cycles help.
