Matt

I plan on buying some new books after my phone bill is paid off. I actually read a lot, Hemmingway, Rand, a lot of books on philosophy, etc. Recently, I’ve been trying to start The Prince, but I just have been to anxious to sit down and read. I know exactly what you’re saying. I was at the highest point since middle school not so long ago, I was simply content. I just got thrown off my high horse. And I hit the ground hard. I’m ready to review my life again I guess. This perfect 10/10 I work with wants to hang out sometime this week, and another girl I had AP gov with wants to hang out again soon anyways. I threw all my eggs into one basket and got kicked in the nuts for it. I’m almost apathetic now. I feel like nothing ever happened. Probably a defence mechanism gone a little overboard. But I feel better then yesterday.

Strongman sounds fun, I’ll be looking into it after this winter.[/quote]

I’m not sure Hemingway has helped too many people find peace of mind . . . but maybe Rand is better for that.

Those books I’ve listed I was able to get from my public library.

You might be putting too much emphasis on relationships at this stage of your life. Yes, in theory, you could end up meeting your “soul mate” or a person you want to love for life at this stage. Or more feasibly you’ll meet someone that will make life a whole lot better for a certain period of time. I assure you the “newness” wears off for just about everyone though at some point. The question is when the newness wears off what are you left with–something enduring, sincere, and fulfilling OR not much of anything.

The tendency of all of this is when you have most of your own shit in order you tend to be able to attract and maintain a good relationship with someone else that has their shit in order. Best of luck if you dedicate your life to undertaking “projects.” It may work out but I don’t think odds would be in your favor.

Thanks Matt. I have a lot to think about.

And yeah, Hemmingway isn’t exactly a peace of mind type of author. But I love what he writes.

elbows and shoulder joints feel annihilated. maybe today wasn’t such a good idea.

One of my friends just called me. She said to him that a friend took her phone away, and ignored all her calls. And she didn’t want to call me back, because I sounded pissed in the voicemail.

wtf is this shit?

I have thinking to do.

Take a look at the Deisel Crew shoulder warmup on youtube. It’s basically a bunch of YTWLs, external rotations, etc… It’s really good for a warm up on well anyday, but it can also be used on off days just to get some blood flowing to sore/inflamed areas. Obviously go very light (5-10lbs). There are lot’s of guys on here using it (or variations of it) like Hanley and CC.

Today:
bench
bar 2x5
135x5
170x3
185x3
225x2+1 spot (PR +1 rep, not counting spotted rep)

not so bad for beat up shoulder

incline close grip:
barx10
95x10
135x5
155x5
175x3+1 spotted (PR +10 pounds)

DB power cleans
20x15
30x15
40x10 (PR)

DB bench
55# 15x7x4 26RP

P.S. My spotter on the flat bench told me to stop using wrist wraps because it was cheating. lulz.

Today:
Deadlift:
225x3
275x3
315x3
365x1
straps
405x4 last one hitchedish (PR +1 rep, and the 3RM was with a belt)

No belt on deads anymore. I don’t like them.

GHR (really decent form):
mex10
me+10x5
me+20x5

45’ back extention
mex20
me+45x15

sweated like a pig. got it all done in 20 minutes.

Looking back on the past week, and looking forward:
-Shoulders are beat up.
-Will be doing CG 2 board next cycle for sure.
-Deads are staying in.
-Snatches will be staying in on Squat day, I had my best squat form when I used to oly lift a lot. will have to see how well my body handles doing cleans to decide if they stay
-Db power cleans, I want to be repping the 50s on here soon.
-creatine: will be using creatine next cycle
-Bodyweight about 200 pounds, getting stronger for reps. Must be getting leaner then.
-back width: I see my lats growing. I’m happy as shit.
-still week at lockout on my bench press

Short term goals
-RP preacher curls I want a 15+RP set with 45s on the 25 pound bar.
-that 365 pound squat I’m really fucking close.
-that 455 deadlift
-drop 5% bodyfat, replace with muscle.

Yesterday

Overhead press:
barx5
95x5
135x3
155x3 (PR+2 reps)

Lat pulldown
warmup
180x5
204x4 PR
165x5

Kroc rows:
warmup
100x15 each arm

Preacher curl
warmups
95
5x1x1 7RP

almost got two reps on the second RP set.

pulldown lat stretch.

Today:
Deload
skwatz (100% rawdawg, no wraps or belt)
barx5
135x3
185x5
225 2x5
heavier then it should have been. Oh well.

Snatch from blocks
(warmup with bar, bar+20, bar+40)
95x3
105x3
110x1
115x1
125x1

Clean from blocks
95x3
105x3
115x3
125x1
135x1
145x1
155x1
165x1
175x miss
175x miss

I’m 3463463248906738-7=48=7998490789045x better at snatching then cleans. I might drop the cleans, I can’t catch the bar correctly, and I feel I might hurt my shoulder if I keep doing them.

Good mornings:
barx5
95x5
135x5
185x5 (baseline)

chair ab raise thing
2x15

DELOAD

Bench
barx5
135x5
185 2x5

2 board close grip flat back
135x5
185x5
205x5

DB powercleans
25x10
35x10
45x7 sloppyish

DB incline
35x10
50x15

Deload

Deads
225x5
275x5
315 2x3

Grip work

Done.

I’m hella burnt out. I’m taking my deloads for what they are. If I feel I should miss a session during a deload I’m going to. I’ll make it to the gym tomorrow for (lat pulldown+preacher curl) prs. But At this point my joints feel like shit, and I’m feeling fatigued all day. Hopefully the creatine next cycle will help.

I’m thinking about it. I’ll consider adding that to my morning routine.

Today:
overhead press
barx5
95x5
115x5

Lat pulldown
132x5
156x5
180x5
204x6 (PR+2 reps)
192x6

Kroc rows
70x10
100x19 (recent PR +4 reps)
Fucked up my back on the right side doing these. Going back to chest supported DB, machine, or cable rows. I fucked myself up tough doing this. It hurts to breath.

Preacher curls:
these sucked, I hit 2 big PRs prior to it, and I was having a hard time breathing. Will worry about these weights later

DB incline curl
30# 1x burnout

standing DB curl
30# 1x burnout

Lat pulldown stretch

I’m getting leaner but my joints ache, and I just fucked up my upper back. Is it worth it? I can only find out I guess.

Fuck this losing fat shit. I just got my heart torn out of my chest. I need squat PRs to make me feel better.

405, you’re mine.

Thanks man, I’m gunning for it. Smolov is calling my name. But I just don’t know if I’m stable enough for it right now.

I’m leaving for a fishing trip for a week next saturday. I might just test my maxes this week, consider next week another deload, then go back at it.

thoughts?
