Not quite shakes, but I’m getting better at making “protein pudding” quick from scratch. One scoop Metabolic Drive, a little less than one Tablespoon peanut butter, and I’m still working on eyeballing the water to get the right consistency. Sometimes I’ll fork-smash a banana in the bowl first, then add the same other ingredients.
Similarly, 1-2 cup of thick-ish Greek yogurt (eg. Fage, Chobani, etc). A scoop of protein, 1 heaping TSP of pb.

Just keep stirring and eventually it will smooth out into a thick mousse texture. If it’s too thick you can add a tsp of water until it gets to the consistency you want.

Dooood, add a teaspoon of water? Are you sure about that? I don’t want my shake getting too watery.
SS strikes again with a true LOL moment of mirth.
Aww, shucks. It wasn’t meant to be a shske, but a mousse/pudding. See USMC’s subseqent post.

Not a shake, but this is my new favorite snake.
How many snakes do you consume?
I would say I eat more snack than actual meals. Like right now, I’m eating a tuna packet (first meal today). It’s 180 calories, 39p, 3c, 1.5g fat. In about an hour I’ll eat an apple w/peanut butter. At around 1ish I’ll be eating grilled chicken. The snake in the pic I’ll eat around 4, anaconda starts at 5, MAG-10 around 7, dinner at 8.

Edit: Oh lol, I guess 1 ANACONDA!!

Edit 2: Jesus I did it again…

I’ve never seen quar gum at the store. Where do I find it? Do you order it? Buy it at a natural foods store?

I usually make a shake that’s about 4 cups after blended. Thick, eaten with a spoon. About how much quar gum do I need?

20 oz whole milk + 2-3 scoops chocolate whey
stir well then steam
add 2-4 shots

espresso machine FTW

a local owned natural foods / meat store here in northern cali has it, have not seen it anywhere else. i got lucky, i figured this particular hippy joint would have it, was the first place i looked, and bingo.

1-2 scoops whey
1/2-1 cup oats
1-2 tbsp PB
5-7g guar gum

Put all ingredients into a blender w/ water or milk or whatever. Blend for about 15-20 seconds. Then add ice slowly - I like to add about 1-2 handfuls total. Blend until all the ice is mixed in well.

The guar gum is pure fiber, and it makes the shake thick like a milkshake. GREAT for fullness and satisfaction, and it really really improves the texture. I sometimes only have shakes all day when busy, and the fiber helps keep me full. You can get it online or at Whole Foods (serach for Bob’s red mill products)
thanks for the guar gum idea, i like it!

How did this go HT.I love my Metabolic Drive shakes thick and use a good deal of ice for this reason. But as others have said you gotta get the right amount of ice.If to much you have yourself an ice shake, which sucks.
Note to all, watch your amount of guar gum you use.It does work i turned my protein drink into pudding haha.Ya you only need a little.
this

Like HT said i picked mine at a local health food store as well.I used a TBLspoon the first time and that’s when i had pudding.Next time a heavy tea spoon and it was good. This was for about 5cups water and ice as well.

I get mine at whole foods - they have it with baking stuff. I live in norcal too HT, where you located?

about 70 miles north of sacramento, you?

Berkeley. Did you happen to go to the Supertraining meet?

no, i dont really follow pl anymore, i know a couple of the guys that train there from my old diablo barbell days though.

@ Attention guar gum shoppers - Thank you!

Powerpuff - i feel you. the stuff is AWESOME. how else can 150 cals be filling? lol! 1 scoop whey and 1/2-1 tbsp guar gum and you’re good to go. I actually started having too much and was racking up like 75-100g fiber throughout the day and was getting so bloated that I couldn’t move. Watch out for that lol

For the low-carbers out there:

1 cup sugar-free coconut milk drink from TJ’s
1 1/2 tbsp peanut butter
2 scoop banana met drive
ice
cinammon
blend

mmmmmmm…

Ha! Thanks for the warning. I’m going to pick some up next time I’m over at Wholefoods. I already put a teaspoon or two of psyllium husk in my morning shake. Sounds like psyllium plus guar gum might cause some G.I. distress… fiber overkill.

HeavyThrower - Is your wife still killin’ it with the trap bar?

If you are ever sick of having liquids…

Powdered peanut butter is the shit. I’ll also throw a raw egg (I heat it in the microwave for 15 seconds to help kill bacteria) and mix it in a shake with shipping cream. If you try a shake with raw eggs, it makes a huge difference.
