YouTuber Says Untrained Guys 50+ Can Build Big Arms. I Disagree

I said “Untrained” guys, if he went 10 years without training the implication is therefore that he trained before that, and the above result is just muscle memory.

Having now reviewed your posts, I now suspect what’s really going in here is that you’re crusading for PT work, and don’t like it that I’ve pointed out that untrained guys over 50 generally aren’t going to gain inches on their arms, no matter what they do.

At your age bingo wings are common among women. Alternatively, are you sure you haven’t simply gotten fat?

What’s your bf%?

I think you’re projecting. You supposedly have been training but when you look in the mirror you see a fat ass with jiggly arms. It makes you feel better to believe that others your age couldn’t end up looking better than you.

Now you are just being an insulting prick.

Everybody here knows what my arms look like, it’s not a secret. You are the ONLY one who has had something negative to say.

I think @zecarlo nailed it! May be a good time to cut your losses and rethink your training.

I’ve seen pictures of her. She isn’t.

You’re making a claim of your own - one that is not going to be easy to collect data on (before and after pictures from an untrained 50+ year old), and then using the scarcity of such data as though it were evidence to support your claim.

Here’s a thread from a decade ago:

Where you were arguing about putting on 20-30 pounds or lean muscle mass at 43 because you’ve put in the work and just need to eat right. So, basically, the opposite of this. It’s fine to change your mind over the course of 10 years, but you’re clearly just as much of a “stick-my-fingers-in-my-ears-and-hold-my-breath” conversationalist now as you were then.

You’ve gone from that - which we would all agree is unrealistic - to this, and I’m going to agree with @zecarlo here. You’re projecting. You tried to put on insane amounts of mass as a fat 40-something-year-old, ended up disappointing yourself, and now you make yourself feel better by believing that nobody can put any muscle mass on over 50.

I don’t have anything new to add that the others didn’t, but felt my “likes” didn’t show enough support.

We should not allow a world where we’re happier to bring others down than to try and fail for ourselves.

Not at all, just stating the fact that as a woman, of your advanced years, the extra .75" could just be the relocation of your bodyfat to your underarms. Equally they could also be muscle memory, you didn’t make explicit whether you started training at 50, or earlier.

You’re making a claim of your own - one that is not going to be easy to collect data on (before and after pictures from an untrained 50+ year old), and then using the scarcity of such data

So you admitted, basically, that you’ve failed to find (or possibly attempt to find) any contradictory data. I stopped reading a few words after that.

That implies you have data to contradict. Your reflection doesn’t count.

Thanks for proving my point.

No need for it - you haven’t provided any data yourself.

From that same post - if you’d like to provide us with some “data” on how this went for you, I’d be really excited to see. Unless, of course, it was a failure of an experiment, you couldn’t keep your word, and you now need to prove to everyone that it’s not possible to gain anything at a similar age, so it wasn’t you not keeping your word, it was just science.

You’re right. You found out my dirty little secret. I am getting in my wheelchair right now to roll my flappy, flabby old ass down to the old folks home to reserve my room.

I never even picked up a barbell until I was 46yo.

Yet again, you’re not supplying data. All noise, no signal.

Neither are you.

So, what resolution to my query have you come up with so far??

You’re a fat troll who probably doesn’t train.

mmmm…

:joy:

There are aliens from a distant solar system walking amongst us plotting our destruction. They are able to take any shape or form and make humans disappear. Prove me wrong :expressionless:.

That’s actually one of the possible resolutions of Fermi’s Paradox.

You forgot to demand ‘contradictory data’ as proof.
