So far ive always had one protein drink (300ml milk + 25 g of protein powder) before and after the workout. I have just bought some maltodextrin though since I have heard so much good stuff about putting carbs in the drink.
- Question: is there a big difference between having the first drink before compared to during the workout? I just prefer drinking water when I am working out, but if it’s worth it I’ll have the shake during the wo.
I am doing the boring but strong challenge and I am trying to improve recovery with this.
- Question: how much should I put in? To be honest, I am kind of overwhelmed by all the info available. I have read the Berardi articles, so I thought like 25g of p + 25g maltodextrin before and after?
My workouts usually last around 3/4 to 1 hour.
All in all I get around 3500 kcal a day, so I don’t mind putting more carbs in it if it helps.
I will experiment with this to find what works best for me, but it’s always nice to have a good starting point
My Intra-workout nutrition…
Started working out in college, ate seven meals a week, pretty much ate whatever I want. Started working out immediately before I ate. Progress eventually stalled.
I went to the Internet, found Surge Recovery. Worked out, drank Surge, went to the dining hall. Surprise surprise, progress restarted.
I’ve tried some other stuff from Biotest (Anaconda protocol, Surge Workout Fuel, etc), never liked workout fuel, Anaconda was good, Plazma is better.
Plazma is amazing.
I have literally never gotten Delayed-Onset Muscle Soreness (DOMS) while using Plazma, and the last time I got DOMS (because I didn’t use Plazma), after sufferring for almost two days, I went and got some Plazma, my DOMS was gone in less than 30 minutes.
I use Plazma when I’m doing any kind of sustained physical activity, even if the calories in the Plazma are lower than total calories out, my recovery is flawless. Climbing, cutting down, and removing a big ass tree? Skip breakfast, drink a serving of Plazma every 2-3 hours, your joints might hurt, and you will want to get a good night’s sleep, but your muscles will recover just fine. I’m not the fittest guy, but after a few days of getting crushed by hard labor, when the other guys are dragging ass, I’m not.
