It all comes down to the fact that you cannot stay still with tyson…If a rope a dope tactic was used and Ali defended upstairs, tyson would be forced to go for the body and depite ALi’s awesome resistance to body punches…theres no resisting that kind of power. Heavy hands don’t crack ribs…explosively powerful hands do.
You guys need to see some Foreman fights.
Check out Foreman/Frazier and Foreman/Norton.
I thought he killed Ken norton, who was an excellent fighter. He also destroyed Joe Frazier, Destroyed him.
Tyson looked bas vs “bonecrusher” smith. Tyson always had problema w/ really big guys. And Tyson had no endurance. Early Tyson would have been a problem. Ali would have won.
Let’s face it. “The Rumble in the Jungle” proved that Ali is a certain type of boxing genius. Ali beat Foreman when Ali was past his prime (in terms of speed, etc) and Foreman was in his prime. No doubt in my mind that Ali, one way or another, would beat Tyson.
Anyway, win or lose, there will never be another Muhammed Ali. He is THE GREATEST. For every smear that Tyson has put on boxing, Ali put 10 stars. I almost cry when I see the CHAMP (Ali) in the condition he is in now. I always think that it was caused by that first fight between him and Frazier (I actually saw that fight-11 years old at the time- on closed-circuit TV).
Well you see thats my point exactly…a peak Ali would not hug tyson for 12 rounds or 15 as it was then. He couldn’t bring himself to do that. Bonecrusher hugged tyson perfectly until he walked into a punch in the 12th.
as for foreman despite all his power he pummelled Ali on the ropes in the jungle and Ali was unfazed.
Tyson hooks to the ribs and it doesn’t matter who you are…your pissin blood.
Ali definately would have taken him if the fight was prolonged.
