Okay, well I’ve had some time to mess with the new XBox Experience, AND…
It’s okay. To be totally honest, it’s a bit confusing, a bit cluttered, and I can’t figure out how to change my background theme now.
Plus, the character customization is only as (if not less) in-depth than the Wii’s. I’m a bit disappointed, actually.
You too huh? That was one of my gripes too. If you still haven’t figured it out, go to “My Xbox,” then scroll over to your gamer information, click it, and it’s in there.
And while we’re speaking of themes I wish there was some sort of transparency option. Half my fucking theme is gone because of the big gray “mass” at the bottom of the screen. Still haven’t checked out the party system but damn man this is what Microsoft has been hyping the last few months?
And I didn’t find any improvements on loads times using the hard drive either. Not that it matters because I only have space for 1 game on the 20gb. Only reason Microsoft probably released it was to get people to go out and buy the 120gb.

It’s a big improvement on the previous version, no doubt about that.
First impressions are I like it - and that intro video is pretty slick too.
SSC, how much more depth would you like with the charaters?
I don’t know. I guess more clothing, physique (obviously,) and general “style” options… i.e., being able to hold a football, have headphones on. You know, things like that.
I’ve been gone almost all day, so I’ll finally have a while to sit down and monkey with it.

360 still own’s Ps3. <3 Achievements.
I don’t know, they both have their own advantages and disadvantages, for sure. You see a lot of things working at Best Buy, that’s for sure.
The new Live Experience is pretty sweet. I put the Netflix feature to the test, since I’m working from home today. With cable internet it streams beautifully. Downside is que selection has to be done online thru your computer. No browsing movie titles thru Live.
Themes and backgrounds are gonna be limited. The new format makes most of your background transparent. From the interviews I’ve read that is just the way its going to be.
I agree avatars customization is a bit limited. Also a bit saddening as the programmers only see ‘Larger’ as the equivalent of fatter. Avatar physique is limited to fat, average, and waif. Bah. I tried to create an avatar as alien looking as possible, only managed a punk-rock-headbanger-elf look. Don’t be too worried there is talk of opening up the customization in the future. Some stuff may be free, or bought with MS points, or unlocked thru achievements.

I haven’t had the chance to look through the avatar selection yet, but I think it would be cool to unlock parts from whatever game’s you have played. Also, a bodybuilder avatar (ie; broad shoulders without the waist would sound good to me)
But then again, I’m not plugged into the net atm, so I still have the element of surprise with the new update.
Is it just me, or do achievements while seemingly useless, give a HUGE satisfaction boost when you unlock one you didn’t know about? Like getting that streak in your game, and pulling off an amazing stunt. Then ping; achievement unlocked. I love it.
I just re-opened my Live account, which I had canceled before the 360 was even out. Too bad I wasn’t able to recover my old gamer tag. Played some Halo 3 online and realized how rusty I’ve gotten at the game. After this month we’ll see if I want to pay money for this.
Oh and my mic wasn’t working? I was just trying to use the headset that came with the 360, which as far as I know should still work. Is there anything I need to do to configure it?
Whenever I sign in it says “messenger can’t be opened” ??
Mic should work as soon as you plug it in…my messenger cannot be opened either but that is the MSN messenger bit, not the 360 one - I don’t have an MSN messenger account so that could be why for you too.
I got MK vs DC Universe this morning…gonna rush home after gym tonight and play the hell out of it.
Ok, prefacing this: love me some Fable 2, good game, lots of fun.
Here’s my gripe: I invested all of my experience right off into Inferno, maxed it out to lvl 5, then got lvl 3 of time manipulation. Essentially I fire off time slow, which gives me enough time to charge up lvl 5 inferno…kills everything. Kinda not feeling challenged anymore, thus, quasi bored with it.
Not going to lie, being in college I play my fair share of games. Lol
So heres what I have to say about each of those games:
-Fable 2
Loved it but CoD: World at War is better so I dont play it any more. Haha
-Too Human
Not too shab. I enjoyed it the first time through. Definitely a game to rent instead of purchasing.
-Star Wars Force Unleashed
I HAVENT PLAIED THIS YET! I heard its real good though.
-Assassin’s Creed
Again, another game thats great the first time through and then its boring.
-Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
I plaied the demo and it didnt grab me so i haven’t bothered to play it. Its too run and gun for me…I enjoy some good strategy. Lol
-Destroy all Humans 3
Its a destroy all humans game…very predictable. Lots of fun though. You’ll have a good laugh.
-Far Cry 2
Epic.
-Unreal Tournament 3
Fun for the first month
-Half Life 2; Orange Box
I had a lot of fun with the orange box…Portal to be more specific. Great pick up if you ahve extra cash
The headsets are shit. So youll probably have to just go buy a new one. Other then that you just need to turn up the volume and make sure the switch is turned on,
