Let’s not forget about Left 4 Dead. Who can’t get behind Zombie madness from Valve?
Also, is anyone else eagerly awaiting Saboteur?

I understand your logic but 4 is the only Call of Duty that is set in the present. The new one is another game set in WWII. Plus the game play is smooth and the story is great. i wouldn’t suggest anyone miss this game.
How much does an Xbox 360 cost now? I’d need to get the one with a hard drive, right? The hard drive just lets me save, right?
Also, how much does Xbox live cost? I used to have Xbox live in like 7th grade for the original Xbox. It was so fun.
I got a job at my gym and want to get a 360, COD 2, and live as a present to myself.
Would it be a good idea to get the Xbox or games off of Craigslist? I’m guessing that the Xbox has a high chance of being broken, but if I go there and they can show me that the disc works, then I don’t see any problems with that, right?

This is very true. The new one is probably gonna suck compared to the old one unfortunately.

An older 360 is likely to break at any moment unlike the new models out now that have a different chipset and cooling system. CoD4 is what you want to get along with a 60GB 360 if you are strapped for cash(the warranty will cover damages). You can buy a used Cod4 and a new 360 and you’ll be better off. My cousin constantly buys his 360s used on craigslist and he’s gone through 4 360’s while I’ve had my single elite model without any problems. Just buy it new.

As for new games, Dead Space is quite intense, as long as you play the way it’s supposed to - lights off, middle of the night, sound cranked.
I don’t have an Xbox, but I agree. Dead Space rocks.

Doesn’t he mean because when the new Call Of Duty is released the price of 4 should drop? Thats what I’m waiting on happening anyway

Hell yeah, I’m pumped about this - except for the strong urge by the developers to play the game co-op. I really don’t enjoy playing games with other people; I just kind of like doing shit on my own accord.
As for someone who mentioned Mirror’s Edge - FUCK YES!
For those who are worried about Fallout 3, it’s about the same as Oblivion.
Which means it kicks ass.
As weird as it may sound I really didn’t like Oblivion, really wasn’t the gameplay but the whole fantasy/medieval/LOTR type setting that threw me off because I really don’t like that type of theme. At all.
But the setting in Fallout 3 is right up my alley. I was always a fan of those type of post-apocalyptic settings (i.e. Fist of the Northstar, Mad Max) and you really get the sense of that here. As soon as I walked out of the Vault (kind of like a bomb shelter where most of the residents went before the bombs fell) and I was immediately depressed, if the skies were to rain fire tomorrow, the world in Fallout 3 is what I would imagine.
And the graphics are impeccable, I’m playing on the 360 in 720p with a 26" HDTV and I was surprised by the lack of aliasing in the game, everything is crisp, clear and vibrant.
Really haven’t delved too much into combat but so far it’s pretty good. I can see myself really doing some damage with the V.A.T.S. system once I level up in it, it’s cool seeing yourself target a body part and a limb flies off, or you target someones head and they’re wearing a helmet and the bullet flies off, or you shoot someone in the arm and they drop their weapon, I think it’s a really well done system.
Character interactions are spot on as well from what I can tell. In the short amount of quests I’ve had I used the Speech skill to talk my way into some favorable situations, and talk my way out of the unfavorable ones. There’s even a probability next to the particular persuade option so you’ll know whether or not it will be successful, don’t really remember that in Oblivion.
Only played it all of two hours but from what I’ve played so far it seems like Bethesda will have my $60 come the 28th.
P.S. I also have Spiderman Web of Shadows, from my opinion, yall should save your money.

Im SubliminalSteve on XBL btw
I’m not a fan of Madden 09, or any Madden that’s out for the 360.
What you need to do is go find a copy of NFL 2k5 and play that on your 360. There’s a few easy ways to get current rosters on the game. IMO, it plays much better than Madden.

-Star Wars Force Unleashed
-Assassin’s Creed
-Mercenaries 2: World in Flames
-Destroy all Humans 3
-Far Cry 2
-Unreal Tournament 3
-Half Life 2; Orange Box
Basically, which of the above games would you get if you could only pick one?
I would pick up The Orange Box first. 4 out of the 5 games included are single player focused, and have huge replay value with challenging achievements. Not to mention its one of the best FPS games around.
Too Human I like in the same way I like Dynasty Warriors and 99 Nights. In an hour of game play you can slaughter a couple thousand bad guys, and come away feeling like a bad ass.
Assassin’s Creed is another great single player that gets a bad wrap for being repetitive. The combat is awesome and surprisingly easy to work with. I could 30 minutes just traversing the city. And I never felt that the game was repetitive, even after rescuing every civilian in every city. Maybe its because I approached each fight with a different strategy which yeilded different outcomes. A very fun and immersive setting. With a big screen TV and surround sound some those base jumps made my balls tighten up a bit.
Bioshock and COD 4 are great single player FPS games. Though the single player campaign in COD 4 is a bit short it is very immersive. Halo 3 and GoW are great games made better with Co-Op and multiplayer. Plenty of shooting to be done on the 360. I also have Dead Space, but haven’t played it yet. Waiting on the new big screen TV, and waiting to play it late at night, alone in the dark.
Two great fighting games for the 360 is Ninja Gaiden II and Devil May Cry 4. Devil May Cry is like being inside anime. Both games can be punishing, but the new difficulty settings let average gamers succeed. Not quite as brutal on the gamer as they used to be.
Overlord is an entertaining piece of work that can be bought used for $10-15. Part strategy, part RPG, part adventure. You command a horde of minions to do your evil deeds with comical results. Entertaining, low stress game.
Xbox Live is $30 for 6 months or $50 for 12 months. If you are a subscriber to Netflix as well then in Novemember, when Live re-launches, you will be capable of streaming movies from Netflix thru the Xbox. I believe Showtime and Encore are getting onboard with the new system as well.
If you are setting up a network to include the Xbox then I reccomend using an eithernet cable to connect, especially with the new features coming up when Live relaunches. If you need to go the wireless route, then I suggest using an N or N1 router from Belkin. The wireless adapter for the Xbox is G-band I beleive, but g-band routers have limited ability to transmit thru multiple walls. If you are on a different floor or on the other end of the house from the router then a more powerful N/N1 router would be the better choice.
I always felt the Madden and FIFA franchises were overrated. Go for the Winning Eleven series (I forget if the name changes) and any of the 2k sports games. They need to do another Fight Night…
What I like about the 360 regardless of the shit talking some people do about the RROD issues (which I think should be curtailed with the introduction of the cooler-running Jasper units this holiday season) is that the infrastructure, the groundwork that Microsoft laid out has longevity.
That they were able to set up Live such that IPTV and Netflix/Showtime/Encore etc can be integrated with the system was a brilliant move. Sony just didn’t have that level of planning/development for the PS3. I do acknowledge Sony made a great system, though, but as for overall media experience you cannot beat the 360.
Halo 3 is the only game I have really played in the past year or so. Oblivion was the only game I played for the first year I owned my xbox 360, both are very good and have immense playtime. I have logged 2000+ hours on each. Thats about $.03 per hour for the games, pretty cheap way to have fun.
Assasins creed was fun, but got repetetive for me. Also probably would have been less boring if I couldn’t kill 10 guards at a time. I mean I ended up just walking up and playing it like I was a barbarian or something, not an assasin. If I had died more, I probably would have made better use of the “avoid open conflict” aspects of the game.

Also forgot to mention Dead space looks groovy and Gears 2 will be in my possession soon. I will have to check out some of the others you guys mentioned.

Am I the only freak that liked playing Gears in campaign more than online?
Don’t get me wrong, online was fun, but I played with WAY too many douche-nozzles.

I play the Co-Op mode mostly in GoW. More fun than single player, and it gives me time to chit chat with friends and family. Private chat channels also alieviate the excessive crap spewing from kids and dildos.
I never played gears I online, the campaign was good though, played it like 3 times. Many people bitch about trash talking kids on halo 3, but I kinda like it.
I mean it is expected so it’s almost uncool online to do it now, you get a dumb kid who is singing or doing something else stupid and people just mute him so he gets no encouragement. I usually banter back and forth with people though because i’m just a big kid and like the smack talkin.
V
Smack talk is great. My personal is:
“Ah son, my aim is so good, it’s like I have infinite ammo!”
This is usually followed up with an immediate, game-ending headshot.
I just stopped using my mic after the third month in a row of a bunch of kids getting on asking for easy kills to get achievements.
saints row 2 is ridiculously good fun, stayed up till 4am playing it without realising,
overlord was good fun too, SHEEPIES!!!
to whoever asked, you dont nessercelery (lol sp) need to play fable1 to get the story line, as it’s not really connected. but you would know about what some of the things the characters talk of.
and it’s a good game in its own right, which you can play on a 360
