Wrist Pains

Every now and then, I’ll get some fierce wrist pains, always at the base of my joint on pinky side of my hand where my hadn meets my wrist. I get a cortozone shot, all good until randomly it will appear again.

It seems like I get the injuries from doing curls more often then not, specifically straight bar curl, so I have stopped doing those.

Is getting a cortozone shot as often as 3-6 times a year int eh same spot ok?

I can’t imagine repeated, long term shots into the same place is great for you long term. I have no scientific knowledge to back that up, just logically it seems like it isn’t the best.

Avoid the movements that cause the pain. I used to have an issue on the exact same spot, pushed through it and ended up tearing the cartilage in my wrist. Now I can’t fully supinate.

Avoid the straight bar curl man. Too much stress on the wrist for a lot of people. EZ bar and dummbells work fine.

Ya, I have already eliminated the straight bar curl, and I may go purchase a different EZ bar curl also as the one I own doesn’t have hardley any angle to it, whre the one at the gym has a lot, and feels more comfortable / less “twisting” of the wrist.

I don’t know of any other way to get rid of the pain then the cortozone shot, however, when it does happen. I’ve iced, heated, KT tape, ART therapy (which does seem to help, but also worsen, the pain if that makes sense - makes it feel good right away, but twice as bad the next day), and chiro.
