Wrist Injury

So I was heavy bag training the other day, threw a hard body uppercut and felt pain shoot into my wrist. After the throbbing went away, I found I could barely bend my hand up or down towards my forearm or side to side without it hurting, or put pressure on my wrist at all…but this went away in a couple days, though there’s still a slight pain if I have to exert pressure in a bent position, like for example…wiping my ass.

Anyway I took a closer look and it seems there’s a lump in my wrist…and a small dip in front of it, where I think the lump used to belong…which makes me think I shifted something.

I’ve gone to the doctor, was told by someone to see a chiropractor, and both were completely useless, telling me it’s from “overuse of the wrist” and sent me home.

So the question is, what did I do, and how do I fix it? Thanks.

Sounds to me like you possibly sprained your wrist. I know hindsight is 20/20 but I learned a similar lesson, and always wrap my wrists if I’m hitting a heavy bag.

Use the RICE method (Rest, Ice, Compression, Elevation) and probably avoid pressing movements for a bit, and hopefully it’ll go away. I suppose if it gets very painful or very swollen you could go back for an x-ray, but I would be glad that neither physician tried to “work you over” financially speaking.
