I agree with Ole about it being on a different level of physical risk, despite whose leg or neck was broken wrestling.
I disagree with Ole that it’s relevant. If a girl can compete with guys in UFC or boxing, and she wants to, she should be allowed to. The opponents of such a girl should take her on just the way they would any other opponent.

Push it sounds like your advocating regulations regardless of merit of the individual?
In my high school a handful of girls played on the mens hockey team over the years because there was no womens team. One girl, who was universally despised and rode the bench, played baseball instead of softball just to make a point. They signed the waiver, they’re responsible for what happens in the course of a game.
A guy my friend knew took a baseball to the chest and died of cardiac arrest.
Women tear their ACL’s in basketball, volleyball and soccer.
There are risks. And given the one on one personal nature of wrestling maybe you guys have a point. But this website is usually all about depussification. Why can’t it apply to women too?

Private school politics. Rich family. Activists. Would have raised a stink.

You don’t know shit about wrestling shut the fuck up.
There’s a huge difference between taking a kidney/face shot and wrestling sports. I’m sorry, but they are nowhere close to the same thing as far as violence goes.

Worst injury I ever got was a bloody nose/cuts on brow.
Second worst was an infection affecting a knee surgery scar.
Its his choice and all, but its not the choice I would make. Sounds to me like he was afraid of cooties.
What team did you wrestle for, dude? I’ve seen plenty of injuries. Broken knee caps, collar bones, elbows, nose of course… There were all kinds of neck injuries. But then again, my HS had state champions in at least two weight classes each year I was there. In his office, my coach had a set of “brass balls” as a paper weight on his desk - the program was legit. I lost seven pounds in one practice at a bw of 135. People got hurt all the time.

A million years ago when I was in HS I went to a BJJ seminar with some friends of mine. Anyway, there was a woman there who claimed to be the “head of security at the Mall of America” (probably a security guard…haha!) Anyway, she rolled with the men and was, technically, quite good. I remember when I was paired with her she might have had me if she had more strength (she obviously had had weightlifting training and was about my weight).
Anyway, long story short, my buddy* wrestled with her and she won. I’ll bet 362 internetz he let her win. Anyway, I lost touch over the years, but he ended up marrying her and they’ve got kids now.
So my suggestion is to wrestle with 'em!
Sooooo they went on to do even more “wrestling”? I used to “wrestle” my gf all the time! All the time ! And I won every time (except for that one terrible night I have tried to erase from my mind. Where on earth did she get that equipment:(). Anyway remember when you were kids and walked in on your parents? They were just “wrestling”
I’d like to “wrestle” Gina Carrano…or towel dry her, or…ahem. Well anyway where were we…Oh yeah. Winning by default is’nt winning.
?
Dude was a beast. Maybe 5’4" but was stronger than an ox. I once watched him bench 4 plates for reps, which was about a thousand times what I could do at the time. This was years before I knew anything about lifting, so I can’t really speak to his capacity…but a beast for sure.

The 2 were supposed to wrestle earlier this year, but at the time the team was able to use a substitute instead of defaulting (dual meet rules) - so this wasn’t the first time he chose not to wrestle a girl (the same girl). I don’t think the kid is chicken at all - he was ranked 3rd in the state for a reason. He’s only a sophmore so he might have more chances at a state title.

Some of the worst “combat” injuries occur in wrestling. Nasty dislocations, broken backs/necks, twisted knees, broken ribs…don’t think just because there is no striking that injuries do not happen.
Much greater impact forces in wrestling than in boxing/UFC. The sight of blood doesn’t automatically mean one sport is more violent than the other; we are discussing violence in terms of severity of injury, even potential injury. You recover fine from a broken nose, but a broken back might not be as easy to recover from. My childhood friend broke his back in wrestling.
Hell yeah. I’ve had my knee dislocated, or re-located as appeared to be, and nose broken several times. Plus seen numerous dislocations of every joint, broken fingers, teeth, nose, torn eyelids and cornea. You name it, it has been broken, torn, or dislocated in a wrestling match.

There isn’t for this sport. Wrestling is an exception to the norm because of the weight classes in place. Skill can make up for a deficit in strength/speed as well (to a point). That is not the case in most sports.
Lol
Dont try to reason with him. He’ll tell you you cant read. Its difficult to talk to a person with the iq of a small rodent

I don’t get the “let men play on women’s volleyball team” argument. Is that just to test the boundaries of the people in favor of the girl wrestling with the boys?
Because there are already men’s teams for those sports, so why blatantly try to play with the women?
If she was wrestling with the guys because there were no female competitions AT THAT LEVEL, then that makes sense. Equity is fine, but so long as there’s equal opportunity for BOTH genders’ sports, there’s no “issue.”
It’s not just about religion or “pussing out.” I think men in general are HARD WIRED to not be as physically aggressive–if at all–with women, and that seems to a legit point that’s unfairly overlooked when discussing this issues, particularly when WOMEN discuss them:
“That asshole forfeited to take away from her achievement!”
No, that “asshole” was probably raised a certain way AND his natural instinct was to not get violent with a girl. This is a point that women will NEVER understand because they’re not men. Men understand it, though.
Oleena is full of shit, as usual - talking about shit she hasn’t done. Oh, I forgot: she got thrown down once (but pinned the guy). Riiiiight. Guess that makes her an expert at wrestling now.
Take a look at the video, Oleena. Now tell me if you think a woman has ANY place with these athletes IN THE SAME WEIGHT CLASS. Women should not be wrestling men. Period. That’s just fucking retarded. Upper body strength is a HUGE factor in wrestling.
This Title IX bullshit has gone too far. The ONLY reason that these women are being allowed to wrestle is because if they are NOT allowed, the WHOLE WRESTLING PROGRAM will be cut. Hundreds of high schools and colleges have dropped their wrestling programs as a result of this BULLSHIT legislation. If we DON’T let them play, they take our sports away. Fucking bitches.
If a girl is wrestling due to politics, that’s bullshit. If she’s wrestling with the boys on merit, she should be allowed too. I saw a video on YouTube, I’m sure others here have seen it too, showing a young girl taking on a boy and winning.

It’s ALL about politics, man! Have you heard of Title IX? Schools are scared shitless of a lawsuit and/or getting federal funding cut and/or being forced to cut their programs. If it weren’t for that, girls would have been laughed off the mat years ago.
Just because you saw ONE or TWO youtube videos of a girl beating a poor excuse for a boy wrestling DOES NOT mean that it is a policy that should be pursued! Sports programs are not based on the exception.
But then again, with the PC PUSSY society we live in, we can NEVER hurt someone’s feelings! So we LET the guy with NO LEGS compete in a UFC fight, we LET women wrestle, we LET them take our sports away, we LET them do whatever they FEEL is “right” (according to whore logic).
We should never have LET them out of the kitchen to vote.
There’s a huge difference between taking a kidney/face shot and wrestling sports. I’m sorry, but they are nowhere close to the same thing as far as violence goes.

Not a particularly good high school program. Terrible college program. But I wrestled against Iowa state reserves at invitationals and the like. Yeah, cuts, dislocations. A few neck things. Plenty of pulls. Why can’t a girl sign up for that?

Unless you have been faced with the situation, you can not comment. Wrestling IS a combat sport, and some boys are taught NEVER to hit or injure a woman…never…even if she hits you.
