SARCASM ALERT. Also, as well as showing your inability to understand BLATANT sarcasm, you’ve offer a nice ad hominem attack to really drive your point forward and show how clever you are

Looks to be Brian Carroll.

Log says he’s around 270, probably 280 in the pic.

I can’t believe how Matt makes Frey look tiny. Could be due to a weird camera angle, thus some of the photoshop claims. I serially doubt Matt would photoshop his own picture lol

Well, I guess what the fan boys don’t get is that sometimes grown men make jokes, that on this site we like to have a fun time and the internet isn’t serious business.

Yes. It was in a LiveSpill about progress. Something along the lines of “Bodybuilders - if you’re looking better in the mirror, dont worry about what the scale says. Powerlifters - if your lifts are going up dont worry about how you look in the mirror”

Again, I don’t remember the exact words, but in that LiveSpill someone else said something like “Wow! Harsh, dude!” which then led Shelby to respond that sometimes in the role of a coach its necessary to be harsh, and then CT came along and agreed, saying BB is so subjective, and a lot of these guys have hangers on and sychophants telling them how great they look, and then they step on stage and get exposed. Shelby also said that Kroc hadn’t emailed him weekly pics as he asks for in the off-season, and said he thoguht Kroc’s discipline with his off-season diet was to blame. I was actually surprised that nothing more was made of it, since right or wrong, Shelby is opening himself up by publically sharing his criticisms of Kroc. Maybe nothing more was made of it because it just slipped through the cracks

Shelby: 3. Where’s the big changes year to year? Matt Kroc’s progress since his last bodybuilding show was so poor that I had to convince him to NOT do the Jr Nationals this year.
05-03-2011 16:46

Meteoroid Rage: Regarding point number 3, do you think that was a result of Kroc splitting his training between BBing and PLing or is there another factor for you?

Shelby: Probably had more to do with inconsistency in his nutrition than anything. Also, not keeping in touch with me. He’s a client of mine but I didn’t hear from him the whole offseason (even though I ask for weekly updates). That doesn’t work well if you want to make big improvements year to year.
05-03-2011 17:38

drdude720: Regarding point number 3- Harsh dude!

Shelby: Harsh? How about reality? People need ass-kicking if they want to excel, not ass-kissing.

Christian Thibaudeau: @ drdude… the worst thing a coach can be, especially in bodybuilding, is a cheerleader. In a sport judged on looks, the objectivity of a coach is the most important thing. And it’s part of building a solid relationship based on confidence… a lot of coaches act like cheerleaders with their bodybuilders… the bodybuilder then has big expectations and sometimes will slack off because of become too confident… then the show goes badly and the athlete will not trust the coach anymore

A coach may also be your friend, but he is also your COACH. His job is to guide you towards the goal, and if you are not listening to him, it is his obligation to call your ass out on it.

I think there’s a difference - a very big difference - between doing so privately and doing so publicly.
