Nards et al. Any idea which tastes best on the Carlson’s fish oil, the lemon or the orange?!? I might buy both and see but be good to get your opinons as well! Brian St Pierre just wrote a blog on fish oil recomending Carlson’s brand ( The Home of BSP Training & Nutrition » Blog Archive » Fish Oil: Why More Isn’t Better )

Anyone got any experience with Udo’s Choice Oils too? I know its not fish oil, its made from flax and a few other things i think, but i’ve read some interesting things on it, mainly about it not having the oxidisation issues that fish oil can have etc. I also have heard its not as the EPA/DHA isn’t as available with seed based oils? Be interested to hear peoples thoughts on this as i’m pretty clueless on this stuff![/quote]

I think the orange and the lemon both taste just fine. No worries about either. Try and get the Med-Strength one though.

My favorite

I like these because you can find them at any Walgreens, and they are about $5.99 for 60. 640 EPA/250 DHA. The supplement that dnlcdstn posted up looks far superior though… at least for men anyway. How much does a bottle of your fish oil cost?

I use the same kind. Cheap as shit @ walmart or walgreens. seems to work just as good as anything else.

180 for $21.49. I noticed the Flameout capsules were higher in DHA than EPA so I started looking around. Great product at a great price imo.

D,

How many a day are you using? Where do you buy them for that price? What’s shipping look like (if buying on the net)?

I wouldn’t trust a cheap fish oil. I need to know that all conataminents are out of oil.

Me either. If you’re gonna take something to promote health it just makes sense. Mine are molecularly distilled as are most quality fish oils. This should be applied to all food though if you think about it.

Im sorry…less expensive. The fish oil isnt “cheap”. U find the same brands @ GNC for about $10 more per bottle. I have yet to be contaminated and ive been using the same brand for years.

I guess I never realized that cheaper fish oil could contaminate people. I have never heard of this before but maybe I do some searching to see what I find.

It seems to me though that a supplement like fish oil would not be allowed on the market if it could contaminate you?

i posted earlier in this thread that i’ve been drinking fish oil for about 20 years ( not including what my mum gave me when i was a kid ) . i’ve only ever used the cheapest i could find and i cant honestly say i’ve ever had any i’ll effects .im 43 now and my joints dont ache at all .

I think the worry with fish oil is the same with fish. Mercury, lead and other stuff. So, I guess your joints should be fine (might be genetic and training specific too), but the brain and kidney health is where I would be concerned.

For all I know it’s just a marketing tool to get people to buy more expensive fish oils. Works on my dumb ass.

that is a really good point about brain n kidney’s etc but the trouble is so much ingredients (for everything) is coming from india , china and god know’s where it’s impossible to know what your getting . in the end we can only trust in the bigger more reputable companies to be honest .god help us

If you’re taking selenium, which most of get a shit ton of in the meat we eat, then that reduces mercury risk even more.

UGHHHHHH!!!

I read this thread yesterday and bought some fish oil today…i eat loads of fish but omfg fish oil is so disgusting…any tips on how to get it down? can it be mixed with anything?

Supplements do not fall under the watchful eye of the FDA as they do not make specific claims. That means that if you’re not dealing with a credible supplier you could be consuming dangerous levels of contaminents.

If you think of it as disgusting it will be disgusting. Think of it as having a neutral or pleasant taste and swallow it already!!
