Would you Pass this Squat?

a video of myself i shot a month ago.

tell me what you think. to me it’s borderline and
could depend on the judges. this suit is making it areal
struggle to get down. maybe i need to put more weight
on it to be able to go down.
i would like to hear what you think…
thanks.

side angle would help

Agreed, but probably not.

different clip with less weight but i guess the depth
is the same. not exactly a side angle but the thigh, knee
and butt are all seen.
thanks

Not in USAPL/IPF.

Check this chick out - she was practically on the ground and still got one red light. BTW, very nice girl, and very strong.

Not in the IPF anyway… Most other feds it would be good!

I couldn’t see that passing in any powerlifting feds… It’s still a couple of inches above any definition of parallel.

Must resist temptation…

What was the redlight for? (I don’t know much about official rules)

No. Not deep enough. If you wouldn’t have let your knees go forward, you might have made depth. Not a strength issue.

Go ahead Hanley, we all know what you’re gonna say…

wait…You WERE thinking “100% Raw,” right

You’re strong but your squat is not at or below parallel. Very close though.

thanks everyone. appriciate the feedback.
i got the same weight in today’s session.
i’m going to try to take it lower. i’ll try to put a video up

I just watched that 4 times.
redlight for depth? seriously? wow.

well, did another session today, took a side angle.
i dont know what to tell you all, in this clip i’m sure
it’s good if it isnt then i need anew stance cause i cant
get any lower in this one.

by the way, hanley or anyone else that competed in the
WDFPF, i 'm thinking of going to the worlds in italy next year,
and maybe even the single event world in june.
how is the judging there?(as far as depth).
i’ll probably have some more Q’s as the meets get closer
regarding th WDFPF.
thanks.

buy the way, i dont see how that girl could have gotten a red light for depth, but you never know what goes on inside a judge’s mind…

Those where better – and from the video looked to be good. I would make another suggestion, make sure you lock you knees at the start and finish. Also if this is to be close to your opener, work with the straps up a time or two and tape that – it does make a difference in getting down ;-).

Yeah, I’m going to have to call bullshit too. That squat was plenty deep enough. I would be pissed.

Those Squats looked better. With such a wide stance and with a suit, I’m a bit surprised that you don’t sit back a little more.

Right as you approach the deepest position it looks like you are letting your knees travel forward like a narrow stance squatter might, rather than sitting back into it like a wider stance squatter would. I think you’ll find it easier to hit depth if you sit back a little more. Just my .02. I’m a raw squatter, so what the hell do I know?
