Would You Endorse A Worthless Piece Of Equipment

Also, the thread on the main page of GAL stops before the word “…Equipment” so I’m sure I like many others though this thread was “Would You Endorse a Worthless Piece of Shit” and yes, I would go on TV and be glad to try and sell a worthless piece of shit so long as my bus fare to and from the studio was covered and they had some good cheese and pickles at the craft services table.

lol that’s how i read it.

I don’t think I would. But if you’re a fitness model then it’s kind of your job to endorse crap so I imagine you would stay out of that field of work if you had problems with that.

I’d still sell the product. Look, you’re selling to ill informed mostly ignorant people. They deserve what they get. I’m tired of trying to help everybody. If they can’t do their own due diligence then they have a problem. If they believe whatever a celeb tells them they have a problem.

If you wanna save the dumb asses of the world you can start with the long list of welfare recipients. There’s a strong correlation between fucking retarded and poor.
False equivalence. Deciding not to help people and willfully deceiving them are not the same thing. Not wanting to lie to people for money and possessing a desire to save the “dumb asses of the world” (a group that you probably belong to, at least some of the time) are not the same thing.

Your whole “well if I don’t do it someone else will” argument completely misses the fucking point of integrity. Someone else might do it, but the point is that YOU won’t. But you don’t seem to give two shits about integrity, so it doesn’t matter whether you get that or not.

lol somehow I doubt you’ve ever helped anyone nevermind being tired of it.

what about major supp companies who put mr. olympia athletes in their ads? does that count as mis-attributing results?
Yes. It is dishonest and dishonorable. Since I can make a good living honestly I do so.

Many people can not or will not so it is buyer beware.

The exercise industry in general is more dishonest than your garden-variety drug dealer.

Look at everybody on their high horse. I manage a fitness equipment store. I have to sell products to produce revenue. They are gonna go to one of my competitors and buy it anyways. Knowing this I must sell the product.

It’s not like the product isn’t going to produce some results if used properly. Whether or not they put forth effort is another topic. So, should I say “ya know, I don’t see your fat ass using this machine. Better not buy it.” How can I know if they are gonna use it and use it often?

Also, no one here knows what I do outside of work. I do try my best to be a good person and help people.

Guess you must know me and what I do. What exactly do you do that you can look down your nose at me? In the town I live in there is a small upper class, little middle class, and majority lower class. It gets old seeing them do the same old traditions that keep them trapped in a town like I live currently. I call it small town syndrome.

I was talking about endorsing something that you know is worthless, like the thread title states. I must have taken that part from a post where you were talking about your work. My mistake and I apologize for attacking you integrity. There is nothing dishonest about selling fitness equipment unless you’re telling people they’ll be ripped with only 4 minutes a day in 2 months, or that they’ll be “jacked like that Taylor Lautner guy” in 6 weeks.

This discussion is a bit of a stretch anyhow, since most things have some merit, the ShakeWeight aside.

We’re looking down on our noses at you because in your first post in this thread you declared that you would endorse a piece of shit product for as little as $5 because there are stupid people out there willing to buy said product and that you want to be the one making money off of them. If that isn’t a clear lack of integrity, I don’t know what is.
Steel Nation wrote:
I wouldn’t do it on general principle. I might lose money, but at least I’ll have my fucking integrity.

Try buying that with a royalty check.
X100

Nothing like buying a big mac or paying the mortgage with integrity !

Preferably i love spending my integrity on trips to the strip club.

Well, I guess I don’t value integrity like some of you guys do. Or maybe my definition is different than yours. I bend over backwards to help people. Granted these people deserve it in my opinion. I don’t give money to bums b/c they would just abuse my offering. However, if I’m at a store and single mom is short on cash at the register I will cover the costs if it’s not absurd. Now, I surely would judge her previously based on her body language, vocabulary, interest in her kid’s well being, etc. I have no problem with doing it and all I ask in return is she help someone else out when they need it. It makes me feel good. Giving somebody in need $50 is so much more rewarding than going out and doing something considered fun.

What it boils down to with me is I’m sick of stupid, lazy, and careless people. I couldn’t care less about people who don’t give a shit and are not responsible. These people tend to be the idiots buying shit off tv and magic pills in the back of magazines. Sorry.
