That wasn’t her point. Hers was that it was just a part of the sport NOW, just like the equipment in other sports. No reason to get uber-anal on her and take the analogy as far as possible.

If you want to look back at sports…
- no one used to wear special shoes in cycling
- no one wore gloves in boxing
- no one wore steel masks in fencing
- gloves were rarely used in baseball until after the Civil War
- Football and ice hockey were originally played without helmets or pads, and T. Roosevelt talked of banning football in 1905ish because of the 20ish deaths a year.
So I’d say introducing equipment does have many positive effects on sports, for safety AND performance.

but her analagy sucked and i fixed. i don’t know what kinda of a gym you guys train in but in my gym when you screw up you get outed, you get busted on and laughed at all in good fun. then you suck it up and go about your buisness. but the last thing you do is get you feelings hurt. if i hurt somebodys then i guess i am sorry. but wont promise it wont happen again.
