Workout Songs

As a spinoff of Tony G’s thread about gyms playing crappy music, how about everyone’s favorite songs to get them pumped up. I’m sure this has been posted before, but not recently that I’m aware of. Always looking for new stuff to listen to when I workout. Mostly newer stuff, some older, these are guaranteed to get me going:

Trapt - Headstrong
Queens of The Stone Age - No One Knows
Filter - Nice Shot
Taproot - Poem
Seether - Fine Again
Saliva - Always
Chevelle - The Red
Tool - Aenima, all of Undertow
Disturbed - Prayer
Godsmack - Whatever
Metallica - Fade To Black, Wherever I May Roam, or any of their older stuff
Incubus - Pardon Me
Hoobastank - Remember Me
Korn - Freak On A Leash, Got The Life
Deftones - Bored
Zombie - More Human Than Human
S.O.A.D. - Deer Dance, Science, Toxicity
Rage - Whole First Album
And my new favorite (nobody else likes this one though) The Transplants - Diamonds and Guns

I didn’t like the Transplants until I saw them live (they were opening for foo fighters) a few weeks ago. They actually have a nice blend of music.

Lately, Aesop Rock’s album Labor Days has been keeping me going.

That, and Cannibal Ox, The Straightjackets, and some of the old (but good) early Nirvana.

Blind in Texas - WASP
The End - Linkin Park
Kick Start my Heart - Crue
Cumin 'Atcha Live - Tesla
Number of the Beast - I. Maiden
Balls to the Wall - Accept
Bang go the Bells - Babylon A.D
Any song by Kick Axe
Last Resort - Papa Roach
Hell Aint a Bad Place to be - AC/DC
Screaming for Vengeance - J. Priest
Crash Course in Brain Surgery - Metallica

Oh, Yeah…angry music for angry men…grrrrrrrrr

“Anger cannot be dishonest”

Vacant Stare - Come Face Up
Sw1tched - Anyone
Candiria - 300 Percent Density
Candiria - Signs of Discontent
Coal Chamber - Me Loco
Slipknot - People=Shit
Snot - Absent

That’s all I for now. If you can’t find of these songs, PM me.

insolence - poison well

Drowning Pool - Bodies
Linkin Park - every song on Meteora, the new cd
Saliva - Always
Saliva - Your Disease
Saliva - Click Click Boom
Korn - Tear Me Down
Korn - Full of Sorrow

System of a Down - Chop Suey
Trust Company - Downfall
Trust Company - Running from Me
Audioslave - Like a Stone
Default - Deny
50 Cent - In Da Club
50 Cent - Wanksta
POD - Alive
POD - Boom
Three Doors Down - Love Me When I’m gone

Anything to get your blood rushing and something that makes you angry. No one ever talks to me with my headphones on, or they get the glare. It’s great, and I just laugh about it afterwards.

This is the harder stuff - generally I prefer quiet intense stuff for concentration

VNV Nation - Dark Angel
VNV Nation - Joy
Clan of Xymox - There’s no Tomorrow
Collide - Halo
Collide - Monochrome
Stabbing Westward - Shame
On the Floor - Killing Queen
Vast - Touched
Vast - Free
Ramstine - Engel

Pantera,
best song by them to workout to and that I listen to before hockey games(people think I’m nuts because I jump around and headbang to it) Hard Lines, Sunken Cheeks

Bon Jovi - Livin’ on a Prayer
Toto - Africa
Anything by Great White
Rock You like a Hurricane - Scorpians
Jenny - Tommy Tutone
Everyday - Buddy Holly
Any Roth-era Van Halen
We’re Not Gonna Take It - Twisted Sister

And the list goes on…

Damn Cupcake is that angry songs of the 80’s. Where is the RAtt?lol
PAntera
limpbizkit
POD
Public enemy
eminem
Primus
System of a down
Staind
Guns n roses
Helmet
Rage machine
CHilipeppers
prong
MOD
Suicidal Tend.
Cryptic Slaughter
Black Sabbath
Anthrax

I listen to most of the stuff by Rage Against the Machine, DMX, Limp Bizkit, Methodman Redman, Propaghandi’s last album, A couple Foo Fighter’s songs. The Hives, Soundgarden, Deftones,

Does anyone go to a gym where they play good music. I guess that’s one of the disadvantages of working out in a fitness club.

“Damn Cupcake is that angry songs of the 80’s. Where is the RAtt?lol”

Ratt always makes me wonder if my spandex is on straight, I hate it when the stripes run the wrong way up to the crack in my ass. It just looks unbalanced

Yeah, older but it seems to have more authentic “anger” and less hate, not pre-fabed attitude to sell alblums…

Cupcake kicks the hound dog outta the way and mosey’s back on to the porch and into his rocking chair…creak…creak…creak

“Music takes us out of the actual and whispers to us dim secrets that startle our wonder as to who we are, and for what, whence, and whereto”

~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

My workout mix stays pretty much the same:

Eye of the Tiger
No Easy Way Out
Hearts on Fire
Training Montage
Burning Heart
Gonna Fly Now, all off the Rocky Soundtrack

Danger Zone
Mighty Wings
Through The Fire, all off the Top Gun Soundtrack

Several versions of Last Kiss, as it’s my favorite song and has extreme sentimental value for me.

Several versions of 99 Red Balloons, as I learned the german version as well…

Pulse Ultra - Build Your Cages
Slipknot - Only One
Depswa - This Time
Hatebreed - I Will Be Heard
36 Crazyfists - Turns To Ashes
36 Crazyfists - Slit Wrist Theory
Ill Nino - If You Still Hate Me
Spineshank - New Disease

And you can call me stupid if you wish, but the whole Bloodsport soundtrack motivates me so much … yes the Claude Van Damme movie.

American Head Charge - The war of art (whole album)
Slipknot - Disasterpiece
Static x - Push it
Static X - I am
Reveille - Unborn
Reveille - Butterfly
Slipknot - The Heretic Anthem
Marilyn Manson - Lunchbox
Godsmack - I Fucking Hate you
Dope - Debonaire
Coal Chamber - Loco
Coal Chamber - Fiend
SOAD - Toxicity
SOAD - Fuck the system
Mudvayne - Everything and nothing
Mudvayne - Death Blooms
Mudvayne - Silenced

Thats only a few…Yeah, I like the heavy shit.

I figure with the kind of airplay they’re getting right now someone would’ve mentioned them already, but I’ll go ahead and throw Evanescence up in the mix.

Fallen is a good cd from Evanescence. A lot of the stuff is collaboration with others, such as Bring Me to Life. go out and get it, it’s good. A lot of slower songs though

Primer55- Set is off (and any other song by them). Great group, really hard.

Slipknot, mudvayne, godsmack, disturbed, Korn, Metallica (older=better)…

I love Mama said knock you out by ll cool j.

The heaviest shit you could listen to is:*
*Cannibal Corpse (heavy death metal)
*Six Feet Under(Cannibal w/diff singer)
Metallica- Blackened,Fight Firew/Fire
Slipknot-End of Everything
Saliva
Drowning Pool

Try to get a few Cannibal Corpse songs if you are into extremely fast and hard music.

Well, anything by Ozzy or Sabath is always a good call in my book.

Recently I have to go with anything by:

Henry Rollins
Especially You let yourself Down.

I love that song, makes me work harder so that I don’t end up like that.
