What's on Your MP3 Player?

what music do you workout to?

I’m looking for something different than rap/rock that I usually have.

Looking for something a little more “hardcore”. I’ve never really listened to metal or anything like that, but have heard a few songs that I think would be good for working out to.

any suggestions?

What do you consider “metal”?

You got me, I’ve never really listened to the genre.

I just know, I heard a few songs lately that were pretty intense (figured it was metal), that I figured would be good for a workout boost.

If anything, the only comparison that I could say is, it was more intense than Metallica (if they’re considered metal)

Here’s what’s on mine at the moment:

ZZ Top (Tush, Legs, Sharp Dressed Man)
Flogging Molly (Sailin’ up to Boston, Kiss My Irish Ass, etc)
Guns N Roses (Civil War, Estranged, So Fine, Get In The Ring, Mr. Brownstone, Used To Love Her)
Disturbed (Down With The Sickness)

…you get the idea.

I mostly listen to Metric when I workout. Not the least bit “hardcore”.

Try out Monster Magnet! They rule!!!

Right now I got a bunch of random stuff, The Roots, David Bowie, Black Flag. I too am lacking in the Metal department.

Usually pick one thing to listen to for awhile.

Currently it’s loaded up with the Judas Priest discography.

For stuff a little more “hardcore”, check out some of Jim Wendler’s answers on the “Iron Brothers” section of elitefts.com’s Q&A board. I feel more evil just reading about it. Lol.

For a quick, more commercial answer, just download/buy anything from Pantera or Slayer. That should be a nice little intro.

I see. The only thing I listen to that could be remotely considered metal is Tool and Black Label Society, but that’s probably not what you’re looking for.

“Randy Bo Bandy ya cheeseburger eatin’ mah-fucka!”

What?! BLS’s “Fire it Up” is a great workout song.

I listen to a lot of stuff, but if you’re looking for something to lift to, try out some Korn. I don’t even know if this is considered metal, but it pumps you up.

 LINKIN PARK!!!!!!

Harder rock with a unique mix of other stuff. Very motivating.

If you want to try one song first try Crawling. The rest is great too.

They’re all I listen to these days and definitely help me get into the zone.

Okay… nothing on this thread that has been covered so far can even be close to considered ‘hard.’ Things I normally listen to during workouts are:

All Shall Perish
The Acacia Strain
Carnifex
A Different Breed of Killer
Despised Icon
From Graves of Valor
Job for a Cowboy
Krisiun
Malevolent Creation
Opeth
The Red Chord

Suicide Silence
Whitechapel
With Blood Comes Cleansing

You know, stuff like that. I’m not sure how ‘hard’ you’re really looking for, but those are some good starters.

Great music to train to try The Bronx’s first ablum, entitled “The Bronx”. Original i know.
