The DEP drummer is awesome, and probably the best technical drummer I’ve heard, but to be honest, I’m more impressed by sheer speed, and Mayhem, Immortal, and Emperor all have faster drums. I’ve never been really impressed by Dream Theater’s drums, but maybe I haven’t listened to the right albums.
Ill Nino FUCKING ROCKS!!!
Dream Theatre I don’t listen to to get pumped up. But when I do listen to them, I think they’re one of the most talented bands out there.
Funny thing about Vulgar Display of Power. In HS I always listened to Slayer before games. I went to a school, were being caucasian was a minority… So I always had my headphones on and all the other kids laughed at me. Even the other white kids listened to rap. My senior year, there’s one other guy on the team that listens to metal. So we decide to get a stereo and play Pantera before every game. At the beginning of the season, the all the other kids hated it. By the end of the season, I had to record the cd for 4 of my black teammates. Oh yeah, the only two games we lost all year was when we didn’t have our stereo to listen to it. That sucked.
Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater is one awesome drummer, very technical!!! Go listen to both Liquid Tension Experiament 1 or LTE 2…Some damn good drumming, espically the double-bass…
IMHO though, I think Virgil Donati is hands-down the best drummer out there…
I like to listen to music that makes me happy, happy up-beat rock is best for me. And of course “Mechwarrior 2, 31st Century Combat” soundtrack is very ‘war oriented’ music. This might sound gay, but I must be honest.
And now for something completely different – something timeless:
The soundtrack from Conan the Barbarian!
thank god, Im glad someone liked Ill Nino. Did anyone else check them out and just not like them? How about the first album by nonpoint? Are my musical styles way off?
when in school (at Pitt) I have to go up this huge hill from where I live, it takes about 5 minutes. I set my cd to play as I walk out of the house to
2pac-All Out
in about 4:30 I am the most pissed off kid in the area.
Then I start lifting listening to
Eminem-Lose Yourself
Ozzy-I just want you
Then I turn it off, and when I am done (hopefully with successful lifts) and start on my way home, I turn on
Eminem-Business
and 2pac-u can’t c me
basically a pissed-off followed by pumped-up followed by chill-out-be-happy routine
Good stuff
the usual…
rammstein
disturbed
system of a down
ozzy
brittany spears
prodigy
powerman 5000
etc.
seriously though, the hard core beats from trance/techno gets me really hyped up
Screw listening to music. I just get really amped off some PCP and I can lift for hours and hours!
Note: the above is an ill attemp at sarcasm.
Anyone here like drum&bass? Dillinja is pretty good. For dudes who like fast music, drum&bass is as fast as it gets
