Working Out Barefoot?

Same here.

Still using the old 7.0 Trainers and I credit them for completely fixing my previous flat-footedness (ie. pronating)

In other words, barefoot training can be about MUCH MORE than simply performance.

edit - Edgy, great work in this thread, appreciated

On my foot as we type. Like I said, they’re pretty beat up now but still perform great and are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own, aside from my gangster snake skin loafers. Haven’t worked out in those though. Yet.

Im glad to see we have plenty of people who understand foot intrinsics on this forum. This I believe shit is ridiculous…what does that even mean…do I believe that shoes exist…Annnnyways…youre looking at about 56 joints from your knee down, it you are saying that articulation of these joints doesnt matter then you clearly dont understand that the stability of anything is dependant on the stability of whats below it…fuckin idiot…

I used to lift barefoot, got killer foot fungus so i quit. Still do sprints barefoot though seems to help me go faster.

Can you post a pic of your foot with said missing toe?
Just curious…

That sounds slippery. But if it works…

Betsy, you seem like the Vibram type so quit over thinking this shit and go get yourself a pair.

Btw, the classic style are just as good and a million times easier to get on.

i tried squatting barefoot, but i get deeper in boots

I love my Vibrams. No more sprained ankles or sore arches/knees. My feet and ankles are much stronger. I love feeling everything I step on. The only reason I can see not to wear them is because they are trendy right now. Oh well.

I always work out barefoot and I run in a flimsy pair of plimsols. I just move so much better without shoes, I’m faster, stronger and more mobile with no shoes or plimsoles and my body aches a whole lot less when I’m not wearing shoes.

It’s got to the point where normal shoes make me clumsy and I feel like I’m strapped to planks of wood.
Had to google Plimsols. So basically they are chucks.
I have a feeling your saw old plimsols kids would have to wear at school, they are quite like chucks but don’t look half as good.

Think of chucks with absolutely no padding that you could squash up into a ball with one hand. They are the poor mans vibrams and you can wear them without getting the strange looks. They’re meant as casual shoes but I have a few pairs and where them whenever I can get away with it which is any time other than work.

They cost me ?£3 and do exactly the same job as vibrams and all those other overpriced barefoot shoes.
I remember plimsols when I was a kid living in England. They were black with tan-colored soles and reminded me of ninja shoes.
You lived in England? your quite the wandering man aint you?

And yes! I thought they were like ninja shoes aswell

The great Sockrates once said “I am a foot, therefore I foot”

I lived in Exeter from 1977 to 1979 then Margate from 1979 to 1982.

I also remember in PE class if you’d forgotten your shorts then you did PE in your underwear! This was all boys and girls together of course. It happened to me once or twice.

I was 4 when we moved there from Canada so I gained an accent, which I slowly lost after returning to Canada. It’s something that happens subconsciously I think, and losing was not done consciously either.
Now I wish I still had it, or to be more specific I wish I still had it when I was 18…I would’ve gotten more dates than I did I’m sure.

The reminds me …one time, when I was 19 or 20, me and a buddy went out for dinner and a movie with two girls he went to high school with…on the way to get them he said I should put on a fake English accent for these ladies, and we’ll tell them I’d just come to Canada for a vacation.
Well I did that, and both girls ended up just talking to me and ignoring my buddy…so halfway through dinner he asks “Sean, can you put on a fake Canadian accent?”
I caught his drift so I went back to my Canadian accent (I’d lost my English accent about a year after returning, when I was about 11) and He said “You should try the Canadian accent for the rest of the night.”

Sorry guys I’ve been ill for awhile and didn’t read any posts. Since I’m the one that asked the question as I understand it there is no correlation between wearing shoes and not wearing shoes. It won’t effect my workout either way. Do I stand correct in that statement?

Because if wearing or not wearing shoes will give me a butt that was shown in those post then I am in either way. But I think I’m on the right track. Its a start at least.

Wait, are you reacting to that picture posted or are you really just looking to spruce up your kaboose? If it’s the later the discussion should be about Squats, RDLs, Lunges, Stepups, Glute Bridges and diet.

Max squat in shoes: 315
Max squat barefoot: 335

But I’ve been barefoot squatting for about a month now, so that could just be regular old progress, and not foot-related. Haven’t tried 335 in shoes.

Thanks OE. Well since I came down from 208lb I thought my backside was an improvement. You proved me wrong. I’ll delete the pic.

Oh no, don’t get me wrong I wasn’t saying anything negative about your caboose, I was just wondering if that’s what you were implying. You said you wanted to do whatever (barefoot or shod) would give you a butt like the one of that girl and I wasn’t sure if you were serious or just playing off the posting of the picture.

No I would like to have a caboose like the ones posted. I’m still on beginner. Maybe one day I’ll get there. But that’s another post. I was just wondering if working out with or without shoes is better for exercises like dead lifts, squats, lunges or is it better over all to workout barefoot/shoes.

Whatever you are doing…

Keep doing it.

Shoes, no shoes… what!?!

O_O

If you delete that pic I will hunt you down.

If anyone thinks that your butt is not up to par, I will hunt him down too.

Basically, I want to hunt somebody down.

Yeah, its me, and, partially, you.

Vibrams FTW!

I’m up to running 7 milers in mine. I wear vivobarefoot Oaks to work. Will get the vivobarefoot Ra when I can scrape the buck fifty for them. Basically, your body will function better with the least restrictive (least tight and thinnest sole) that you can handle (phisically, societally etc…) when you get home from work, remove the shoes and barefoot it.

P.S. Whats up penises.
