I don’t think they consider being female a birth defect, I think they have serious human rights issues towards the value of women. In a few years they’re going to have a whole generation of men who can’t find wives because of their practice of aborting female fetuses or letting them die and a whole lot of Chinese babies that could have been born won’t because there are no women to be impregnated and have those babies (though in the case of China’s overpopulation, that might not be a bad thing). We don’t have that problem here. I’m only talking about serious birth defects with extremely small chances of survival. Yes, there are exceptions, you are one, but I personally, would not take that chance. If that makes me mercenary or heartless or whatever to you and others on this forum, fine. Who gives a shit. It’s not going to change my mind about how I feel or what I believe.

I just got wind of the new firefighting protocol. Any rescue attempts will now be based on the quality of life of the person about to die. If it’s a special needs kid or one that might have cancer or something, firefighters will no longer try as hard to save them. Nursing homes will no longer be entered at all. And no one will be rescued if the attempt would be deemed inconvenient, no one can be found to “want” the victim, or if its going to cost money and has a chance of not working.
So it is ok to abort the child due because of “Womens Right” to choose, but if killed in a car crash/mugging etc… the relatives of the unborn child can pursue a wrongful death suit. Interesting.

They’ll say this isn’t illustrative though because these folks are already born. At least I would if I were them. Thank God I’m not.

Besides morality =/= religion. You can have morality without religion, you know.
Could you share a ‘moral’ precept with me? I want to dissect it… Or, at least do mathematics with it. Thanks.

If you found out tomorrow with absolute certainty there was no god do you think you would start raping and murdering people?
It’s sad that such a simple question led to three pages of evading the issue.
A belief in god might prevent someone from raping and/or murdering someone else, but that same belief might also condone or incite the rape and/or murder of someone else.
Essentially, religious beliefs do very little to prevent unwanted actions but are readily used to justify negativity.
Just look at how easily religious men here on PWI are willing to demote women to a second tier existence based on religious beliefs. They’d even vote for other men who pledged to abolish abortion and make it harder for women to acces birth control.
A person is able to justify any behaviour no matter if he’s an atheist or believer, but the absence of religious morality does not make it easier to behave badly just like the belief in religious morality does not prevent a believer from behaving badly.
If the desire is strong enough a person will act on it regardless.
Out of everyone, you’ll probably enjoy this the most.

What’s so ironic is that he is perfectly illustrative of my oft repeated claim that there aint no more “religious” person on the face of the earth than the fire-breathing atheist evangelist. They get very intense.
They very much want to promote their creed and the lifestyle that goes with it.
“Don’t stick your religion in places where it does not belong”
That’s easy enough isn’t it?
It’s you lovely boys who feel the need to interfere with other’s lives, not me.

The reason they call atheism a religion is so the can say the government’s preferred religion is atheism and they are being discriminated against.

Well, you guys do usually favor forcing us to subsidize contraception and abortion in some way.

You’re the one supporting abortion.
What’s your stance on contraception? Do you consider it immoral?
What about safe sex eduction?
Yes.
No, as long as sex education is handled by parents. Excepting coverage of the topic as it pertain to the reproductive system in Biology and A&P.
