Women of T Nation

Day before yesterday, I haven’t iced yet, but I’ve been doing warm the day before yesterday and yesterday. Today is just leisure stuff so I’ll ice it today.

I thought I did, but after seeing my doctor, and doing a handful of follow ups, I actually ruptured the tippy top parts of my right lat some time ago. I had no idea the lats extended a bit farther up and have a skinny long part that wedges right between the spine and the muscles that help the shoulder blade.

Doctor said I ruptured it and it “shredded like string cheese”. Sheesh lol.

I also think it might be good to lay up on uni work for a bit. I don’t mind bilateral work, I just don’t do it nearly as much, but in this case would be good I think.

Got it, thanks. It seems like a menstrual cup can really be hit-or-miss if one does not consider its firmness or correctly measure one’s cervix height. Have you ever taken one of those online quizzes that recommend a brand for you? I’ve done this and investigated whether they work okay lifting, so I’m going to give one of those a try. It will be interesting for me as a lifelong pad user.

YMMV but some women who don’t like cups seem to appreciate discs. You probably have some method that already works for you though, so don’t mind me. :~)

pls lmk how it goes!

I’ve been reading some very concerning things about the chemicals in standard products and the “clean” ones are out of budget for me. Turns out I actually have to consider this stuff now that I actually have a cycle again…

Sorry ladies, I don’t have any insight here so I’m just going to follow along and learn from you! I’ve always been curious about these

But speaking of menstrual cycles, during my competitive years I got my period before every competition except one—talk about bad timing, lol. Even when I competed in figure and had a relatively low body fat level, I still got it!!! If the cups work as advertised I think it would be very convenient for athletes.

@Bronwen_Blunt what are your thoughts on this?

He’s basically advocating for ppl who are diet fatigued to let themselves eat what ever they want for a period to mentally recover.

It kind of makes sense, but reminds me of the “all in” thing/dirty bulking which makes me skeptical.

My gym was smokin hot this morning and I was sweating from the second I walked in so I figured why not sweat some more?! I’ll just do some bodyweight exercises in a little circuit with a 15 second break between exercises

1 Hot-Rox 45 min before

1/2 serving Surge Workout Fuel 20 min before (I tried to sip the rest during the workout but I didn’t have time so I drank it after)

10 neutral grip pull ups

10 dips

10 inverted pull ups

15 push ups

30 sit ups

12 Supermans on Bosu

(x5 rounds)

Try it! :smiling_imp:

Eat whatever you want =/= Eat everything

It just means you can stop paying attention to what you eat… something I think would be beneficial for people who are anal retentive about what they eat 24/7/365.

If you don’t want to dirty bulk, then don’t - you’re still “eating what you want” =)

THIS ^^

Tracking your food 24/7/365 gets exhausting for anyone. I think it’s a good option for some people but definitely not everyone.

Obsessing over tracking is a form of disordered eating(to different degrees depending on the individual) if a person is given a free for all to eat whatever/whenever they want, sometimes they fall into a different category of disordered eating (ex. Eating so much and then feeling guilty and throwing up and/or starving themselves for a period of time afterwards to try and compensate for their binge). Having a negative relationship with food is a slippery slope but I’m all about learning new strategies to assist people with these issues… I always proceed with caution when giving advice based on videos like this because it depends on the individual and their specific needs.

@anna_5588 you told us that you enjoy eating protein more than anything else (which is awesome!) so if you were going to try something like this, I wouldn’t consider eating extra meat and eggs “dirty bulking”
Are you asking if this is something you should try? Or just generally curious about the concept?

I was considering eating however much I want of meat, eggs, dairy……

I could realistically eat in a 1000+ surplus that way, which would be “dirty” bulking

Go for it!!! Try it out for a week and see how your body responds and let us know how you feel.

Last week you mentioned that you were going to increase your calories. Have you been eating more?

All of this talk about food is making me want a pepperoni pizza :drooling_face:

yeah, I’ve been having ~2k/day

Honestly, my hunger just adjusted upwards

That’s not a bad thing… your body needs it!

How is your strength? Have you been able to train harder?

I’m not sure. I switched to a new programme so hard to compare. I haven’t felt any difference in everyday energy but it’s also only been a week

Ok, scratch my previous comment about trying to eat whatever you want. Stay on the path that you’re on right now… you just changed your diet and training program so give it some time.

Are you eating more carbs now?

no. the extra calories are from extra portions of meat. Before this, I did add some more carbs by switching out some fats

Approximately how many carbs are you eating during the day?

I have 90-150g/day

Ok, I’m assuming your fat is still relatively high. If you continue to feel hungry try switching out more fat for carbs… even if your calories stay the same it might help with the hunger feelings and strength.

I’ll definitely share my thoughts here. I just ordered the Lena small cup. A bit nervous to try it but also excited.

Yeah, I currently purchase “cleaner” products but am honestly fed up with spending so much money on them. I don’t want to spend hundreds (hell, probably thousands) on menstrual products for my whole life. Plus the environmental impact of disposable options irks me.

I’m very proud of you.
