I just got my wisdom teeth pulled yesterday so i guess i have to take about 5 days off from the gym but thats not gonna hurt me too bad. But im worried about losing muscle cause its hard to eat but i have been drinking alot of protein shakes with eggs in them, about 5 shakes containing 500 calories each of them a day. Will i still maintain muscle off these shakes until about 2 days where i can eat solid food?
Lower the dose of the drugs you are taking for the pain. They are clouding your judgement. You aren’t going to lose anything.

Don’t you always bet on yourself?
Take a pill; you’ll be fine.
You will find that lifting before the “holes” are fully recovered will be a bitch, blood will come out when you lift. I’d take at least a full week if I were you
I had all 4 of mine pulled last year and lifted 2 days later…I guess my surgeon was better than average. My bleeding stopped only a couple hours after the procedure and only had pain for that day and a little the next and then I was normal. I was also eating solid food the day after.
If yours sucked then I would suggest you make lots of smoothies. Protein shakes with eggs and some protien mix is a good idea. You can also make smoothies with fresh fruit as well to get some other good nutrients in you. I just drank gainer shakes all day for the day of my surgery…the first one was funny because my mouth was still so numb that I was drooling everywhere trying to drink it. lol
You’ll be fine, I didn’t get to eat anything solid for a week (just shakes)- my face was swollen for 5 days and the bruising went down to the bottom of my sternum.
I had a very bad case, the dental surgeon told me that I was in the top 3 hardest surgeries that he’d ever had. I was weak coming off of it but it didn’t take much longer than a week to be fully back to normal.
Follow the post care treatment exactly as written (you did get this, right?) and you’ll be able to eat again very quickly.
Don’t sweat taking a week off from the gym, you’ll be fine.

Agreed. I’ve had a ton of dental work done in the past year (more like 6 months) and I haven’t been able to really start eating (and training for that matter) like I’ve wanted to until just recently. I lost 5-7 (depending on the day) lbs during that time. All of which I’ve since gained back in the past 6 weeks.
1 week is nothing. You won’t lose much if anything in the way of muscle or strength.
I got stuck in traffic on the way to the gym and started loosing muscle!!!
OMG!!!
“All aboard the ROFLcopter!”
I always find it amusing when people complain about lack of food while on a liquid diet. Because it makes no sense.
I had it really bad when mine were removed. The surgeon said they hacked up my mouth. I lost about 8 pounds initially and then decided to cut after they healed about 3 weeks later. Overall I lost a total of 16 pounds(surger recovery and cut). Took me a while to gain the muscle back.
make sure you consume close to the same amount of calories you are used to.
Try going to back to the gym after a few days. If you can deal with pain, good. If not wait a few more days. I wouldn’t look to set any new PRs though.
My advice is to not lift on painkillers. If you get hurt in the gym you may not feel it. I had all 4 done at once and only used the painkillers to sleep for the first few days. Not using the pain meds will get you accustomed to the pain so when you start lifting again it wont feel as drastic.
Im so Anal about losing muscle or strength i swear to god i take a testosterone shot or two to boost me back up to where i was if i do lose alot cause it depresses me. Fuckin a week before the surgery people were telling my how much ive been growing and now im gonna get pissed…
But like i said im still eating like 2700-3000 calories a day with jsut shakes with raw eggs in them as well. So like some of u said, i should be ok?
And yea the pain is just real bad when i swallow, so shakes fill me, i drink them all day but the pain is still nowhere near what it was yesterday, ill try going back to the gym on friday to see how i feel, if not im pretty sure by monday or tuesday i should be fine.
Im still bleeding a little bit tho, but not as much as it was yesterday.
And for the record i only got the 2 bottom ones pulled lol.

I had my lower left wisdom tooth yanked 3 weeks ago. The bleeding pretty much stopped within 24 hours with the exception of some small discharges over the next 2 days - no big deal.
I was in the gym the next day.
Man up.

Relax. It makes life easier.
im pissed man
im so scared of losing muscle but this is what ive been consuming for the past 2days they have been out
5 protein shakes
Each containing 4 eggs
So that puts me at 2500 calories and 300g of protein
Scoop of protein powder 20g
4 eggs= 24g
Glass of Milk 8g
so around 62g per shake. Ill only have to do that for another day…
Freakin out :[
WTF?? All that and you’re scared? Bull.
well rippe, dont be scared. If you weight less, its probably the weight of your 4 teeth.
that just sounds dumb…if anything all that rest n protein…your proly be stronger(no muscle loss, perhaps even gain) by the next time your able to work out again.
I just got over a stomach bug, all the good nutritional food I ate over the past days; GONE.
All in the toilet.
