Will Mr Olympia 2009 be on TV?

Some responses in this thread explain exactly why the O isn’t on TV.

There are people in here bashing bodybuilding. These people have gone out of their way to go on the internet and type in this site’s address and then make their way to the BB forum.

Imagine the reaction of people if they were channel surfing and came across the Mr O final callouts? People would be appalled.

Imagine it was Taylor Hooton’s dad. That guy would have a heart attack on the spot and on the way to the hospital he’d be blaming steroids for his own heart attack. And there are plenty other’s like him out there. [/quote]

Well said. You have jackasses who will literally spend their time going into forums that they don’t even care about to voice their hatred for bodybuilding. I’ve never seen anything like it because if I personally don’t like something, I damn sure won’t waste my time logging into forums about that thing just to tell other people how much I don’t like it.

I would say it is because these guys make them feel inferior so they lash out…but I am sure most here already know this.

They consider Nascar a sport, and all that is it taking left turns. Hell, i say Bodybuilding takes a lot more Athletic aptitude than Baseball, a bunch of chubby dudes standing around in a field.

Fact is that this is a bodybuilding forum, if you dont care for it, thats fine, but hey, dont post here? How is that a complicated situation?

i can’t believe i have to even write this… how many athletes from other “sports” do you know who monitor their diet and exercise as much as bodybuilders? how many other “athletes” do you know who workout religiously everyday. How many athletes do you know who are more dedicated and are willing to put more on the line than bodybuilders. Come the fuck on, running 200s and miles are not the only things that make up a sport.

Pissants like some of you who start bashing anyone with decent size by calling them out on the fact that they can’t run a mile. Shit, if I can’t run a mile, then your happy ass can’t squat the BAR to save your life. That is if youve ever even done a real squat.

oh and to the OP, im sure you’ll be able to find the mr. O on any of the torrent sites. I don’t know anywhere (besides maybe PPV) that you could watch it live.

Well hey just b/ you love training and lifting weights doesn’t mean you gotta give a rats ass about professional bodybuilders. X you talk about Vic Richards and how he didn’t compete, maybe he didn’t think it was a sport but hey he didn’t compete but he’s still the essence of a bodybuilder.

I honestly don’t care what you say X 'cuse you’re the one trying to make people look inferior.

You can look at things two ways asshole.

Vic Richards never said anything about bodybuilding not being a sport…so what the fuck are you talking about? You said if the majority doesn’t think it’s a sport then it shouldn’t be considered one. YOU wrote that. That statement is ridiculous because if “the majority” thinks Nascar is a sport, then by what rationale is bodybuilding not defined as one other than pure bias against it?

You make yourself look inferior. I didn’t have anything to do with that.

Things that are on TV that are much less of a “sport” than bodybuilding: golf, billiards (pool), nascar, poker, darts (apparently), baseball, bowling, and even curling for cryin’ out loud.

even out of real sports like football, rugby, hockey, wrestling (NCAA, not WWE), can you show me an athlete who’s entire life revolves around his profession like a bodybuilders? How many football players do you think plan out their entire daily nutrition, what they’ll eat, when they’ll eat, and how much they’ll eat NO MATTER WHAT.

and whoever said since they can’t run 2, 100m dashes they’re not athletes: who gives a shit? how is that going to help them win competitions? Can you even run 2, 100m dashes? Whatever your answer, you’re missing the point, which is: nobody cares. This is a bodybuilding forum, and I wish all you crossfit, and track and field faggots would GTFO.

Ill answer your question because I think you already know the answer. The public don’t give a shit about bodybuilding and will not say its a sport. YOU can think its a sport but the fcken line is blurry; someone else isnt going to think it is a sport.

And to those people, who don’t agree with you try to make look inferior. You’re playing politics. And I was not talking about myself lol.

Why do you think anyone here cares?

We are trying to figure out why people come into a bodybuilding forum to tell us that it isn’t a sport. Why the fuck do guys like you waste time on shit like this?

Who gives a shit what some sedentary people think about this activity?

I can’t understand this either. I am amazed at how many people want to waste their lives signing up to a bodybuilding forum to slag it off. It would be like me signing up to the letsmakefancycakes forum and slagging off decorative icing.

We then have the arguement, this site isn’t just for bodybuilders. However, I like horse racing, so I go to a horse racing forum. It also has a football section, which I along with many others have no interest in but we don’t post in there slagging off football to those who do.

Why, even if you’re here for one of the other sections of this site, come to the bodybuilding section when you obviously hate whats involved in it? Wouldn’t it make more sense and save you all much time in just not coming on here.

Not only do the people who dislike bodybuilding come to the bodybuilding section, they also open up a thread on whether the Olympia will be on TV or not, it’s laughable.

I remember when ESPN2 and Fox Sports used to show major pro shows and big amatuer shows and natural shows and everything. Before that back in the golden age, they used to show bodybuilding on network television. Can you imagine the Olympia on NBC for two hours on a Saturday night? Actually I can, I mean they still put beauty pagents on network television and don’t tell me it’s because of the hot chicks and that sex sells. In this enterainment/information overload age hot chicks and sex is everywhere.

The Simple act of working out and participating in Stringent, Strenous, dedicated hardcore exercise with a goal or competition in mind, makes you an athlete…thereby making you ATHLETIC thereby making BODYBUILDING in essence a SPORT! DEFINTITON OF SPORT-An athletic activity requiring skill or physical prowess and often of a competitive nature, as racing, baseball, tennis, golf, bowling, wrestling, boxing, hunting, fishing, etc

The Fact that bodybuilding takes refined skill is up for debate as far as the defintion of sport…however it does take physical PROWESS and is of competitive nature. Bodybuilding is also an Athletic Activitiy. As far as the Athletic or sportlike manner of the competion itself…it might be more pagent than sport…but hell id rather watch the O than BASS FISHING and thats considered a sport!

Thanks dude, someone finally answered the question

Edit: for some reason it quoted the wrong post :S

And for the Record…not EVERYONE who’s a professional athlete collegiate or big leagues takes steroids I know many steroid free professional and college athletes in my circle.

A man should look like a man, not a gorilla.

Watching shaved gorillas prance about…well, whatever floats yer boat…
