Having high testosterone doesn’t mean you have to beat your chest like an ape.
That’s precisely what it means. That doesn’t mean you should be stuck in a perpetual state of ape-hood. There is a time and a place for everything. If the forums on TESTOSTERONE NATION aren’t the correct place to partake in a bit of apery, there is no hope for real men anywhere!!
All I’m saying is quit being so damn sensitive!!!
What’s so manly about being a moron? If he wrote his post without trying to make it clear that he is above all the other pussies on T-Nation it might have effectively gotten his message across.
My forearms are small - it’s always bugged me. So I decided to work them hard. I used Ironmind grippers, made and used a wrist roller, and also did regular and reverse wrist curls. I attemped a “high frequency” approach and trained them >5 times per week switching around between high reps and low reps. I’m 40 yrs old. Result of this effort: my forearms got a little bigger and veinier, but a got a raging case of tendonitis in both forearms. I don’t claim to be any type of expert, but I would recommend caution with forearm work and stay away from high frequency. Tendonitis sucks!

yes!
there is no need to train forearms at all if you are lifting heavy enough and gripping heavy deads on so forth. Unless you are geneticly lacking or want popeye size forarms.
This is exactly why i reccommend trainig them once a week in an all out blitz and faiilure program. It’s very easy to overtrain the forearms with these endless reps of rope rollers and grippers<<< which are a waste unless you are trying to compete at ggripping, you should be doing heavy reverse wrist curls if you want strength and size… not grippers.
train them hard and only 4 to 6 times a month if at all.
If you are a mechanice, you can train them 40 hours a week and better hope you have good genetics, all mechanics dont have great forarms
my program takes about an hour a month
or you can become a mechanic, rely on gemetics and tke 160 hours a month to build them up.
both will work
mine is more convienent if you arn’t a mechanic.
The thing that Waterbury doesn’t tell you about frequency, is the rediculous amonut of time you need to spend as a mechanic to compare to the small amount of time used doing heavy deads or heavy wrist curls.
A- You can take 10 years working 40 hour weeks to build your forearms up in a garage somwhere and still nor have bodybuilder type forearms… or
B- you could grab something heavy and do it in 15 minutes a week over the next year.
Why, just the other day at my gym I saw… with my very eyes… squat rack wrist curls, and have been waiting for the opportunity to share my story. Thanks!
And the popeyes will be trying to budge 500, 600, even 800 lbs in a simple standing behind the back wrist curl in the power rack.

Who the fuck is going to try to wrist curl 500-800 lbs? If i saw someone trying to do that, I would laugh my fucking ass off while pointing and crapping my pants.

I use to do shrugs in the squat power rack with with 585 lbs… is there a problem with doing something other than a squat in the squat rack or is the the weight.
You can easily do a quat with a 100 lb bar on your back and not need a squat rack.
I say if your in the rack, make sure your bar is loaded up with 45’s before someone like me comes along and throws you out of there.
I don’t care if you’re doing cock curls, you just better have some 45’s on the end of the bar.

who? good question. People with 18-19 inch forearms that can also do reverse wrist curls on the preacher bench with 200 lbs. We need that kind of weight.
You may be able to get by doing around 135 lbs and make gains, i dont’ know. My guess is you dont have forearms bigger than 13 inches.
I’ve gotten the best results from Farmers Walks, and the Wrist Roller (make sure it’s the one that is supported on the bar so you’re not trying to hold it out in front of you while rolling)

Just Deadlift.
Finally! The sense and reason. Goodbye
agreed. plus some weighted towel pullups. I’ve always thought that the forearm roller was some kind of janky mickey mouse equipment. Its just plain easy compared to towel pullups and deads. Then again on the forearm roller you are limited by your shoulders as to what you can hold straight out in front of you.
Use the Wrist Roller Strap. You put your olympic bar in the power cage, put some weight on the other end for a stabilizer and slip the strap over the bar. Joe Defranco has some of his guys do this, and they an lift some sick amounts of weight. Even I’m up to 46lbs this way, and there is no way I could hold that out in front of me.

My guess is you’re an idiot who has no idea what he’s talking about and isn’t near as big as he claims

You’re right. I’m busted. I don’t weigh 240. I weigh 110. I hate heavy weights, they hurt my arms.
You are right, I have no clue how to build forearms. That is why you see the stacks of guys with big forearms telling me I’m wrong about heavy gripping. Dammit, I’m glad a bunch of crossfit pussies didn’t show up today. Whew all those guys do that heavy shit!.. not me man …Push Ups!, Fuck Yeah!
All theses skinny runts were right. I should have done a wrist roller and curled my 8 lb dumbbell up and down a rope so i could have those massive 12" forearms like you.
Dammit! What was i thinking? I should have known you can’t get muscles by lifting heavy weights.
Anybody got a spare wrist roller, I’m gonna jack up my 10" forearms to 11" and pop out some veins.
You know what? I’ll man up and admit that this is actually good advice. I think most people here are actually disputing the OP’s attitude, not the advice he’s giving.
That said, I hereby request a picture of the OP and his massive forearms.

I agree. At least someone is extolling going heavy, though the attitude is unnecessary. I have a hard time believing the 400-500 pound wrist curls, and won’t believe it until I see it I guess. Then again, my forearms are only 14 inches so maybe I suck. My grip doesn’t hold me back in anything so I’m not real worried about it.
You lift the amount of weight that someone who owns a pussy would lift.
Your forearms probably look like they belong to someone who owns a pussy.
Anything less than 100 lbs is just pussy weight and should only be used by someone that owns a pussy.
Okay. You have quoted in there 3 times that owning a pussy will lead to substandard strength and forearm development.
Does this mean that I should get rid of mittens?
By the way, you forgot the golden rule of Trolling. Drop the word Function or Functional into any post and you are a sure thing for some hate. You have done well, but there was scope for so much more.

I can’t believe there are so many thin-skinned people on this forum! So this guy has some pretty strong opinions about forearm training. So he says to quit being a pussy and lift heavy- BIG DEAL!! If you’re not a pussy, his post doesn’t apply to you. Getting all defensive about it just makes you look like maybe you are a pussy…
It amazes me to see someone on a site called TESTOSTERONE Nation talk about “chest beating” as if it were a bad thing! Guess what? Aggressive men go primal and beat their chests every now and then! Its usually the delicate little nancy boys that get all offended when that happens!
I don’t agree with the exercises that mason cites, but his training philosophy sounds pretty damn solid! Now get the sand out of your clit and go lift heavy or shut the hell up!!
Good point mate.
Even though mason is getting quite a flame from a lot of people here it is very entertaing to read.
He has some good advice,he overdoes the pussy reference but apart from that i like it.
hell it beats the boring posts of “HOW DOES MY ROUTINE LOOK” sigh
I would also like to see a pic of his forearms just to see the proof.

No offense, D, but I really hope this turns into some crazy troll vs troll combat.
You have been registered on this site for 3 days yet you know details of Mr Pushups who hasnt posted for 4 months and you know the standard comments about Prof X.
Either you have done a hell of a lot of reading in the last couple of days, or you are just a regular reader who got bored and wanted to post some shit that you knew would get a response.
I am betting on the latter.
Regardless. His ideas are sound, and I personally never would have considered very heavy almost static holds to push the forearms further along.
However much of a dick he is, his ideas seem to have merit and I appreciate that.
