My understanding is that we all have a degree of lactose intolerance although in most people the response is mild and only shows up as subcutaneous water retention.
I heard a radio interview where Franco Columbu did recommend that people cut dairy products in the final stages of getting lean because for a lot of people it held them back in terms of subcutaneous water and perhaps subcutaneous fat, but he also said he drank milk most of the time, and I think his normal off season level of fat was OPTIMAL for growth and health.
