I dont know if this is what prof x was getting at with this thread but this is my deal;I spent my first year of lifting busting my ass and every day multiple times a day I would eat so much food that I would gag on it.That got me from about 168 pounds to 200 .My second year of lifting since Im starting to kinda sorta look like I lift I slacked off on my diet and intensity and guess what I didnt gain a fucking pound.I am the weight that I was this time last year.I wasted a fucking year. Now I now if I want to make progress I have to actually go hard or go home.I will not look the same this time next year.

Off topic, but lookin’ pretty thick there HolyMac. Nice work.

Good post…and I was waiting for someone to put the words like this.
That bodybuilder you watched is right…but that doesn’t just apply to bodybuilding. It applies to everything in life. If your plan is stand out, you have to have that “fire”, that ferocity, that anger, or whatever to call on to push you through. if you don’t have it, I doubt you will last long at this to make much progress at all.
That doesn’t mean walk around pissed off all of the time, but there has to be something pushing you, something you need to prove in order to make progress at points where most others would quit.
That’s the difference between the ones who actually do this long term and those who make no progress for years on end.

Like I’ve said before, if someone like Bonez had typed the same exact words, none of that shit would have happened. They MAKE this shit about me no matter what I type.
It is strange as all hell but has happened since 2000.
I think it is a defense mechanism…because on a bodybuilding forum, if you are getting pissed because someone is questioning your progress made, something is wrong with you.
It’s because you come off as egocentric/arrogant in most of your post.
P.S: I’m not hating, just stating what I see. If you think I’m excusing my self for the lack of progress I’ve made (yes I wasted A LOT of time but I managed to get my shit together) then I can PM you pics of my progress so far.
LOL…so these responses are from people who think they are putting me in my place?
It’s been ten years…how is that working out for them?
That’s not what I’m getting at. You said it was strange that everything ended up being about you which is not strange at all when you consider the way you write your post.
Again I ain’t hatin and in fact I incorporate some of your methods to gain muscle.

LOL. Look at the types of people who bitch that much about what I write. It is ALWAYS the same ones. I haven’t seen overstand post ANYTHING worth reading on this forum since his first post…yet guys like that are the first to bitch about what I write, how obese I am and several other issues.
If I were you, I would pay way more attention to what is being written…instead of whether I wrote it.

It’s not that strange, I’ll break it down for you.
-
Bonez speaks the truth without making it personal. If somebody disagrees with you, you criticize, name call and play the race card without hesitation.
-
Bonez is actually lean. You act like you are the be all end all authority on all things bodybuilding when you are fat as fuck and have a physique nobody here wants. It’s even worse because you think you’re the shit. Be like Mighty Stu, diet down, win a contest and you’ll get the respect you think you deserve.
-
You have no sense of humor, no people skills and are just overall an unlikable person. When you say “If somebody like Bonez would have typed the exact same words…” it doesn’t apply, because he is not a giant douche bag and wouldn’t make retarded threads like this.
LOL.
Posters like this are really funny creatures.
Do you lift weights?
no because he will get fat.
I think everyone should make it a goal to be one of the handful of posters mentioned by profX when he calls out those makin progress.
but yeah, most people sucks, w/e.
I think people who get easily offended at X’s posting style have serious reading comprehension difficulties. =/
This thread has made me think about the fact that I really struggle to explain WHY I do this when other people ask me about it. I struggle to put it in to words but 123watson is hitting on it; that fire, that something inside. It’s an idea in my brain that is never satisfied or forgotten.

I think my mindset has been the biggest thing to improve during my initial time at university. Being able to dial in and unleash has become easier and I do want to stand out, I have never considered small and weak as practical. I think with the right attitude and consisitency I’ll be able to join the ranks reserved for only the truely dedicated.
I don’t want to spend the money on food
I don’t want to be feeling stuffed all the time
I don’t want to be away from my family any more than I already am
Basically, I’ve reached a place where I’m comfortable. To get any bigger I would have to eat more and spend more time in the gym. I don’t see myself spending all the extra time and effort to gain another 10-15 lbs.
In the future when I make more money, hopefully have some more time, my metabolism slows, and don’t have to raise a 4 month old, then I may try and get hoooge. Til then I’m good.
These are excuses. I could pick myself over my families well being, but I think that makes me a fucking loser.

I guess you are like the cop of the forums. Sometimes you must use violence lulz.
I see it as a mix of both and it workouts out at the end:
Little faceless ass holes posting dumb shit and you being arrogant workouts at the end. the ass holes get called out then they bitch about it and eventually leave the forums with their shitty advice.
Yeaaaaaaaaaaaaa buddyyyyyyyyyyy light way baby nuttin but a peanut gotta get giggggggggggggggggggggg!!
off to the gym I go.
I forgot what I was going to post because I lost myself trying to keep up with the thread.
Why did I even post ?

Your goals are your own…but this comment gets me. I was a truly broke college student. Most of my text books were borrowed from girls in the class. I still found ways to get the calories in. Most of the really big guys you have even heard of in the mags went through some pretty rough financial times as they were putting that size on.
…and trust me, if you’ve ;lost the desire now, you either won’t be getting it back, or you will wait until you pass the age at which you can make the most of it.
Most people take the route that you are.

haha, bonez does look good. but he’s a 170lb midget. i want people to not have to ask me ‘oh do you workout?’ even when i’m wearing my hoodie and freezing my nuts outside.

192 whooooopppppp (with teh abz). Can I have your hand-me-down army clothes please?? PLEASE !

I think your time management sucks to be honest, that is the loser part, not the iron.
I read on a board FULL of fathers who compete.
Meat is a dad… Lanky still hits it hard 4 days a week…
Don’t get me wrong, at 4 months things are a bit different than my 13 year old, but… You need to learn better time management if you need to be a shitty father in order to spend time in the gym, lol.
And yes, that is how you make it sound, like an either/or, when it isn’t.

But look at the responses you get if you mention that. At least two of the posters here seemed truly pissed off that I dared to ask for a picture.
Have you considered that people with sub-par genetics and a lack of bodily-kinestetic awareness/intuition are the people googling ways to look fit and seek supplements? so they end up at T-Nation and the people who “have it” don’t waste their time in forums?
I push hard just fine, it’s the pulling I need to work on more.

I just want to know what is holding some of you back. There are clearly some here who can and do push for more than average…and we all know who they are by now…but why do so many others seem to not be moving forward much at all?
How many people here have ever gotten a response like, “what the fuck have you been eating?”…from someone who was big and not sedentary?
Just askin’
I think, for me, it’s overcoming mistakes. I’ve made more progress in the past year than I have in the past five (!!) and it’s because nowadays I train with someone who actually competes and wins shows, so I get a lot of good advice and motivation from him.
My mistakes have been many, particularly in diet, and again, I’m making progress now, just takes a while, I suppose ![]()

Maybe we could do a new thread, “Time Management for Lifters”. I mean, why not provide more tools/insights to help folks?
I’m shocked by how many people don’t really care to push harder. The other day a 39 year old woman i work with was telling me how she is just content in keeping her figure how it was when she was younger. Not that she isn’t attractive as she is but I was surprised that she didn’t want to be “better” than before but only strived to look the same.
Another guy I work with was telling me how he doesn’t understand why I want to get big. That at 5’11 200lbs, i’m big enough and more impressive than the average guy. I couldn’t believe it, i asked him why he thought i’d bust my ass every night to just be average.
I’ve only been lifting for 2 years and although i’m no where near where you are X, i’ve made progress and would like to think i’m on my way. I respect all the hard work you’ve put in over the years and am glad that your willing to share your experiences with the rest of us.
