Why Don't I Look Like a Fuc@ing Monster?
Brook wrote:
If someone has average (or below as you may well have) genetics for getting a beautiful body it may not be POSSIBLE to get the type of body you want (which will be unpopular here i suspect).

For example, sometimes a person is simply not able to achieve a certain look, let alone in a few short years.

Let me put it like this - training to achieve a beautiful body takes a considerable amount of time - those who are in great shape in just 2-5 years tend to have the genetics to look like that anyway (low fat, wide shoulders, slim waist etc.)

You have not only be training just 4-5 years, but at least half of that will have been learning HOW to train effectively, and you are likely only just learning your body now.

When i say to people ‘it takes years’ they think 1 or 2 years…! Nope. I mean if you train for aesthetics, it is something you do forever, with the kind of results most really fantasise about taking a good 10, 15 or more years for most.

IMO.

As for advice, i would look to diet - that IS the key for you. As a FFB (you, not me) you sadly have to eat cleaner than most - with carb control being a lifetime fact if you want ‘abs’ etc… (no, not carb cutoffs a-la DC).

As for doing DC for 6 weeks… well if you really expect changes of that magnitude in 6 weeks then you have not been training long enough anyway.

I agree with everything beyond the first sentence… not that it isn’t true that some people just won’t look pretty… but for this kids weight he looks exactly like you’d expect and his numbers are pretty good(almost 2.5x DL, probably close to 2x Bench if he maxed, and apparently a 2x squat prior to injury). He looks like he has a really tiny waist and naturally decent width, there’s just no thickness to the muscle because he’s fucking 167 lbs.

I’m 5’11", 226 at 18% bodyfat.

Why the fuck do I not look like a monster yet?

Op, I look about as big as you, yet I’ve got a good 60 (!!!) pounds on you, at the same height.

At 167 you have no right complaining about your looks yet.

Just an example

I’ll eat these every 2-2 and a half hours

1 Rice and tuna with cashews and soy sauce

2 protein shake and half cup oatmeal with cinnamon and milk

3 A bunch of eggs and 2 slices of whole wheat toast

4 post wo Yogurt with protein powder and a sweet potato

5 Protein shake

6 A chicken salad w/ protein shake

7 Right b4 bed, a protein shake
That’s great BUT I bet your portions aren’t what they must be to gain! Up the cals, keep up with the good healthy eating and up your intensity. Keep working the big lifts; your in you prime now for many years. Make good use of them & put the hard work NOW. 19 is young, I bet in the next couple years you’ll gain quite a bit if you keep at it.

And for now stick with a whole body routine 3 x a week.
HARD WORK.

Change exercises and repeat. Nothing fancy, just lift dammit!

He’d make more progress if he stuck with certain rep ranges and got stronger and stronger with them, as opposed to constantly switching them up so drastically like that.

I was just using that as an example. It doesn’t seem like he’s having a problem with getting stronger, it’s getting bigger that’s his problem.

He needs to stop doing any cardio, sorry buddy some people can do it and gain weight and other’s can’t, and he needs to eat more and just stick with some simple program.

I haven’t read all posts, but in case it has not yet been said, i’ll spit it cause i have a way with words and putting things politely and all. Dude, you my friend are anorexic. You think you’re fat when you look like skeletor. You are a skinny shit that weighs 160 and you think you need to eat clean and do cardio. How can your body work when your brain wont. You are on the forum, so you should have figured it out by now. Figure out your problem now and solve it, or stay small forever. It’s simple, you need food. You are starving. You look poor. Do you have a home? If yes, you can afford food. “Hawt abz” are not cool after high school. I don’t know how else to get through so i’ll leave it at that…

Okay everybody, I’ll start scarfing down more food, and stick with a split for now training wise. But should i really cut out all cardio

agreed.
can’t stay the same size if he adds 100lb to his close grip, bench, squat, etc, for moderate reps.

you are pretty lean as it is. if your goal is to get much much bigger/stronger then i’d at least cut it back. if you still find that you are having trouble gaining despite eating much more than you are now, then cut it out completely. add it in if you see you are gaining too much fat.

I would try twice a week for 30 mins max, and eat a bit extra that day to make up for calorie loss. That way you get the heart and health benefits and it shouldn’t interfere MUCH with your bulking.

LOL @ “a bunch of eggs”.

What’s the deal with this?

I’ve noticed it a lot on this site… I can understand not wanting to give up strength for “Hawt abz” if you compete in a strength sport… but why have they become more or less a joke… or like it’s a condition?

I’ve never had a six pack. I’d like to have one, but for the moment I’d rather get bigger… but I assume at some point I’ll really try and cut as the goal would be lean size… right?

What am I missing about Hawt Abz?

Damn i feel like a small farm animal since i started eating so much thanx to this thread…starting today of course

i am 6-5, 270 and don’t feel like a monster…

Am quoting again so you don’t underestimate how true it is.

Thanx everybody that posted shit that seriously helped me. From what ive gathered I just need to eat more. But, why do u have to be so advance to do DC?

because you don’t learn how to drive in a formula 500 car.

and you don’t learn how to shoot with a .50cal sniper rifle
Shit I can (and have shot the .50cal, neighbor has one) do that, and I dont even do this DC thing, I also dont even know what that it. Im gonna go back to the strength sports collum now, byeess :-*

No… Thank YOU! lol

Professor X correct me if I am wrong on any of this…btw, for the guy who started this thread, read around, this guy knows his stuff.

But, my two cents, Stop worrying about being a newb or whatever, be more concerned with edjucating yourself on what you need to do for Training, Nutrition and Recovery. Read the book Starting Strength by Mark Ripptoe, and 5/3/1 by Jim Wendler both have solid programs and great advice. Eat Clean. If you want to get “big” chill on the cardio, barbell complexes will keep you fit and will help keep your muscle…Chris Shugart just posted an article about this dude. Also, you are 19 bro, lighten up, At 26 I am just naturally straight up bigger now then at your age, in other words you are still going to be filling out some, atleast I know I did.

This site has a ton, literally years of info on it. I lurked on here for years before I made my first post, read bro, read. Get out there lift, eat and enjoy seeing yourself grow. Good luck to you.
CRise wrote:
Eat Clean
yeah, i guess. But define clean, ever since i stopped eating “clean” and added things like Frequent burgers, occasional pizzas, and just more carbs in general things have been going better. Im 19 just like the OP, and quite frankly adding these carbs hasnt caused a signifcant gain in bodyfat maybe ive gone from like up to 14 percent from 12, but i still have the same abdominal defination that i used to. Maybe just less vascularity in arms now.

My Rule of thumb for deciding weather something is acceptable to eat or not is weather it has a shitload of protien. I dont touch junk like desserts, soft drinks, doritos etc. I don’t claim to be hy000ge but this approach has been working pretty well for me lately. now if only my gym would open back up…

It’s not that the general sentiment is anti-lean physique.

The general sentiment is anti-skinny-fucking-teenagers-trying-to-put-down-impressive-amounts-of-muscle. It’s not just here, I’ve read it on other boards too. People start putting down what they can’t achieve by saying that big muscles are gross, and they are lean because girls like 14 inch arms and ripped tupacs on 145lbs dudes. This all to make themselves feel better about not putting in the time or effort.

Making “hawt abs” a derogatory term is the back lash to underdeveloped people trying to knock larger more accomplished individuals.

But if some dude came here a ripped up 220lbs 45pac and all, I’d be the first in line to congratulate him.
