Why Does Protein Keep Going Up?

I remember a few months ago I bought a 10lb bag for $64. Today it’s $77. Whats the deal?

The cost of milk is going up which in turn makes protein prices go up.

Cause and effect.

Ethanol(corn based biograde gas) is become more popular.
Cows are corn fed.
Price of corn increases, price required to feed cows increase…price of whey increases because if it costs more to feed cows, the farmers pass this increase in cost onto there customers in the form of higher protein costs.

the price changes are partly due to increase in real costs of inputs (not just corn and gas, but machinery and labor too), but the sagging US dollar has made such shocks a bit worse for you yanks.

on the other hand i can get Metabolic Drive at around a buck a scoop whereas two years ago it cost me around 1.40-1.50. nice to live in a country that is a net exporter of oil and metals.

Because Gemma still sucks.

so thats the deal… damn.

The long drought in the south caused a huge drop in milk production, which has pushed prices up. Dairy prices will drop a lot once it starts raining down there again.

wow. thanks for the input guys…very knowledgeable

assuming its a decent protein, 77$ for 10 lbs is still a good deal in my opinion. i buy whey isolate at 30$ for 2 lbs (28 servings) and casein at almost 50$ for 4 lbs (56 servings).

15/lb for isolate and casein are NOT good prices for protein.
