Why Do We Train 1x5 on Deadlift?

Here is a graph/curve for dudes who hate math.

Endeavor to Stay in the Gain Zone! Keep anxiety out of training.

what’s your best deadlift ever? or if you don’t deadlift, a different big lift? This isn’t a call out. It’s me wanting to know, at least approximately, what sort of level lifter you are, or put another way, what you’ve achieved via your mindset/strategy.

400x1, 355x3, 485x6, 39yo, 325lbs, 6’5.

It’s just part of A strategy to manage fatigue. Prilepins chart fits me pretty good even though it was developed from weightlifting. I stay in the optimal to minimum range other than isolation and prehab work. My goal with inol other than managing fatigue is to find out how little volume I can still make progress with at this point. Things like amraps, maximal effort work, rest-pause I really enjoy doing, but figuring out when I can handle them and when I should back of isn’t as clear cut with me right now. The juice just doesn’t seem worth the squeeze going balls to the wall constantly, so I’m trying to adopt a more minimalistic approach, because training the way I have in the past is no longer getting me anywhere but hurt.

tall as fuck. lol. I’m jealous. Height is such an asset in my sport.

also, I’m assuming you meant maybe 285x6 rather than 485x6?

No, those are my big 3 numbers. And yea, it has it’s advantages. And disadvantages I guess too. Lol. My bench is ok for such long arms and it’s hard to maintain a flat back pulling, but my squat just flat out sucks. A long torso and a weak core isn’t a good combination while having a heavy load on your back. The 400x1 was over 6 months ago, when I thought I was going to give up back squat for the trap bar. I picked it back up this latest cycle and 275 felt like a bitch. I did get some awesome trap growth out of the deal though. :grinning:

My highest deadlift is 255, but i can only hit 200 for 2 reps lol, that was 6 weeks in though. i just deloaded fixed my form on everything (mainly squats which caused bad knee pain) and ill see this week what i can do, i’m not going to 1 rep though, ill test my like 3 rep max or something.

nvm ur asking someone else, sorry. ill keep this here anyway. was confused why it was asked at first. maybe u can find humor in that lift.

ahhhh ok your post was confusing. I thought those were all supposed to be deadlift, haha. That makes your numbers much better.

Yes, your squat sucks. lol. your leverages aren’t the best for that.
