I take 1000mg of L-Tyrosine daily. I started because my former doctor, the late Dr. Crisler, suggested it as a means of enhancing sensitivity and ability to orgasm. It helps a bit, but seems to achieve saturation after a bit. L-Dopa and phenylalanine are on my list to try, alternating with L-Tyrosine perhaps.
They all hit a little different. In my case, L-dopa and Tyrosine do nothing - because I have a gene mutation that affects my ability to process them. Phenylalanine seems to have a very moderate effect on me, mostly noticed by my wife, but I do not have the sexual sides that guys are complaining about in this thread. Supposedly phenylalanine has 2 different paths that it can use and so it is different than the other two supps.
I use Mucuna Pruriens for L-Dopa supplementation and notice a positive effect, generally increased libido and penis sensitivity, and it does allow me to go a couple rounds with the g/f in a day sometimes. Other times I feel zero effect, but that could be because I’ve been upping my T-dose and still need to stabilize. I used Mucuna for years pre-TRT (when I was low-T) and also post-TRT, and it works for me, but I find the libido effect goes away after a bit, so I rotate between that, Maca, and Horny Goat Weed (I buy in bulk). It takes me a few days of taking any of them consistently to feel something.
I still use health food supplements to try to figure out what my body appears to be missing in the libido dept. I only take one supplement at a time for 1-2 weeks, then assess. 7-Keto DHEA for example made me horny as fck pre-TRT but does nothing for me on TRT. I’m still searching for solid libido on TRT standalone though. I don’t take any other supplements or prescription drugs, just Testosterone Cyp.
I’ve heard that before too, Post SSRI Sexual Dysfunction. Pretty rare. Someone should have their ass sued off for that shit, seeing as SSRI’s are the front line treatment to get you the fuck out of the Dr’s office with zero warning.
How’s it going on the low dose?
Well so far as expected: better sleep and better energy in comparison to my higher dose experiments (200-400mg).
Oddly enough, strength seems to be better in the gym as well. Not much in term of libido. Still getting good morning/nite wood though.
thanks for this thread. I like Danny’s video on identifying if your TRT dose is too high. I seem to match those symptoms; ED, poor sleep, anxiety. I am going to throttle back as well and see if these things are relieved.
That’s great so far, you have not fallen right off the table dropping it that significantly!
I’m about 7 weeks in after switching to twice a week 38mg. I gotta say, so far I think I preferred once a week for a low dose. Split the dose in an attempt to lessen sides, and it never really did. All my shitty side effects are exactly the same, but now I also don’t ‘feel’ emotionally as well as I did on a single dose per week. I never experienced the ‘trough’ guys talk about on once per week… maybe a factor.
Same here. Never felt a trough.
Also, the once per week spike in FT may be a good thing.
I do remember on 100mg per week (one shot) on Thursdays, by the morning of my next shot, i felt amazing. No libido, but amazing.
