Why Do Some Have Abs and Some Not?

6-packs, I see them all the time. And occasionally I see the odd 8-pack. Now, my question is, why do I see pictures like this

where they have 8 packs, and then famous BB who are even more massive, but have only 4-packs? Do some people genetically not have the 4th row?

If it IS about unlocking muscle potential, what are some excercises you can do to unlock that 4th row? Dexter Jaxson doesn’t even have a fourth row, his is just flat.

I’m pretty sure it’s genetics…

Variations from one person to the next in how their bodies form in the womb, like some folks having extra molars or different hair lines…

some can’t even get a 6 pack and just get a 4 pack, its genetics.

The shape of the rectus abdomis (number of segments) is determined genetically and cannot be altered through training.

Some people are “lucky”, some people are not (based on the public perception that more segments = good). Welcome to reality.

Exactly right. The “sheet” of muscle that is your rectus abdominis is separated by cords of connective tissue called tendonis inscriptions and the linea alba (center line). A “6 pack” or a “8 pack” or whatever is actually due to where you have NO muscle, and your segments of muscle are bulging around these areas.

Awww, I wanted to get an 8pack, but it looks like I’ll live with only a 6. Is Dexter Jaxson’s abs built like a sheet, rather than lumps, because of his genetics or from training?
