Why is it recomended to get in a big serving of carbs at breakfast?
I understand why they are essential post-workout, but why at breakfast? Even if the body does utilize them better in the morning than at other times, whats the point if there has been and won’t be an physical activity until my workout which will be hours later?
Thanks in advance.
Carbs at breakfast can help replenish glycogen levels (especially in the liver) from your over night fast of not eating for 8+ hours. Carbs spike insulin which is very anabolic, at the very least anti-catabolic which is very important.
Carbs will be digested as glucose and be protein sparring. Insulin will also start storing nutrients and prevent the breakdown of muscle mass. Also, carbs in the morning can help provide some energy for the rest of the day. You might feel better, come workout time if you had a nice serving of carbs for breakfast.
