No dude - you’re actually not “just fat”. I saw your before pic - you sure as fuck weren’t “just fat”. You had a shitload of muscle under that layer of chub. Which is why you were able to diet down to an impressive physique with thick muscle. And is also why you don’t look like you have a wasting disease like cancer or aids in the after shot. You look like a bodybuilder.
Guys who are “just fat” are couch-potatoes with little to no developed muscle mass - that’s “just fat”…
By far HH and ID on Swallowing.

3- Did Lankymofo do a good job of sweeping up afterwards?
Pretty easy, everything got swallowed up.

4- Will Professor X ever diet down?
If he likes those protein shakes HH was talking about.

5- Will people with no pictures and no personal info in their profiles ever grow some balls?
Perfect pull ups might make a better pull up bar.

6- What will become of bodybuilding?
Dudes will eventually think it’s cool to rub oil on each others backs, put thongs on, go out and vogue on stage.
Please answer these questions truthfully. Thank you for your participation.
No problem.

Those are also some pretty damn powerful legs and you looked like a power lifter. That isn’t exactly “just fat”. That’s more like, “damn, that dude must lift AND eat a lot”.

Agreed with others. Even in the first pic you look like you lift… A LOT! A “fat” man usually doesn’t.

Great transformation diesel, while it is clear that you lift a lot in your before pic I have to agree with you - when you bulk up that big it takes a lot longer, and a lot more time spent catabolic, to become contest ready.
I am currently bulking, so to speak - although I’m aiming to stay single digit bf. I’m aiming for a modest lb, or less, a week. I believe eating five hundred calories over my maintenance is enough to recover and grow - why over do it?

Because it may just be necessary for some people to reach the size they are after. No one is knocking your current progress, but if someone has a goal of truly reaching more upper limits, going past single digit body fat may just be in order.
I didn’t gain more weight for no reason. I gained weight because muscle came right along with it.

QFT
I tried the keep diet slightly above maintenance, and it worked for a while but then I just halted, my body needed more fat/water to add further muscle.
I mean I’m nowhere near ‘fat’ now but I’m not super defined single digits either.

In my opinion, which doesn’t have to much weight behind it, is that gaining some fat (more muscle than fat, but you get the point) with your muscle is healthy. I believe that it helps to get your body used to the heavier weight that it is at. Plus, it allows for extra calf work.

Usually these guys are telling people who think they look like a bodybuilder that maybe they should try eating something for a change, and now finally they have some props to dish out and you say you think you look fat.

You’re lifts would not improve at a certain point?

We have discussed weight set points before. Most people will not experience some unhindered linear progression in body weights/muscle mass gains from start to finish if they expect all of that gain to simple be lean body mass. That is a heavy stress on the body meaning more food intake is needed just to maintain function…something your body will eventually begin to fight you on unless a SURPLUS, possibly above what is currently comfortable to you, is provided.
That would allow you to create a new weight set point at a higher weight…which in my experience has led to increased muscle gain in the long run from either recomp or dieting fat off and returning to that weight again.
You’re lifts would not improve at a certain point?

yes & no
say for example, I used to be 162-165lbs and strong for my BW [squat 350lbs for 5-6 reps, deadlift 400lbs for 5-8, decline BB bench 220 for 5-8]
now… what I found was the difference between absolute weight used and then weight used in the context of things
I was getting ‘stronger’ but not bigger/heavier because I only did 1 top end workset on 1-2 exercises per bodypart
however…once I started eating a greater surplus of food [after I stopped being a girl and fretting about getting to a shock shock horror ~15% BF and realised I wasn’t given the genetics to maintain 10% BF whilst adding any substantial size]
I wasn’t lifting ‘heavier’ as such cos the weights I used were around the same BUT my volume was increased much more/and I was resting between sets less.
BTW X has a point and has mentioned it countless times and its worked for me too - hitting a weight first time around feels uncomfortable and you generally aren’t an ideal BF%, however once you recomp/diet down and hit it again - it almost feels natural and this time at a lower BF%

That makes sense, I’m currently right under 190 aiming for a solid 205 lbs. I’ve been 215 lbs in two different periods over the last two years, although I’ve never been able to break 200 lean. I have faith that I’ll be able to achieve a leaner 205 than I have before.
