WHY Are You In This Forum?

How has it turned from why people who don’t want to get big, into lets try and belittle the big guy ?

Prof. X has pictures up they are not THAT hard to find, i even saw the one which someone put Mr. T’s head on his body (lol)

Regardless of what it seems a minority think, the man has helped past 1000’s of people of getting out of their own way when it comes to being big.

Trextacy / Airtruth, i have not seen alot of posts by ye, offering to help people or trying to get people to see sense, though you seem to take great offense to Mr. X offering advice.

If you know better then by all means start a topic, if you want i’ll start a “Trextacy How do you train” or “Trextacy how do you train” so you can enlighten us to the error of Prof. X’s ways…

What say you ?

I don’t know the man from adam, obviously you cannot as it’s the Internet, what i DO know is if i have a question and PM him he will give me an answer that i can trust 100% along with other people here as he / they are big, so if you feel you can also offer advice that can be trusted then by all means post some pictures so we may know what you know.[/quote]

I have under 500 posts, but I’ve been here a while. I enjoy the forum, and enjoy training, but I’m here more to learn/read than treat the site as my personal blog. I’ve helped some guys via PM before, and have personally been helped by guys via PM (e.g. Cephalic Carnage and, a while ago, Bricknyce).

I just get sick of threads that lament about shit, or threads getting turned into that and others getting shouted down.

Someone registers last week, posts a question about abz or something, and the usuals run into the thread and cry “When will people get it into their fucking heads blah blah blah”, always using profanity and caps lock to look like internet tough guys.

But here’s the thing, Professor X actually seems to think that everyone on Earth knows him and have read his voluminous posts, and can’t understand WHY anyone would ask a question that has been answered before. Well, guess what, not everyone has been on T-Nation since 2002 and not everyone has read every freaking article/post on T-Nation, so if you don’t want to have to repeat yourself, then don’t respond, or don’t have so much of your life invested in the dissemination/growth of your online profile and e-myth.

You are entitled to take advice from Professor X all you want. He will tell you to lift weights and eat a lot. He may even ask you into the T-Cell and you can feel like the cool guy at school has allowed you to eat at his table.

Just remember, he slams many authors who actually HAVE qualifications for not having winning bodybuilders on their resume and not competing themselves. Where are his trainees? Where are his proteges w/ tropies? Where are his own personal trophies?

What’s good for the goose…

When I was lurking I took a lot of his advice and it helped me as I’m sure it’s helped many others. He may not have coached any pro’s but he’s built himself up to a very impressive level and that deserves respect. It doesn’t take much to read around a bit before asking a question here as nearly everything has been said already.

Not to jump on the Professor X Bandwagon, but I’ve made a point to read as much as possible (some I didn’t even understand) before I posted. I’ve been a member of T-Nation since 2005 (didn’t re-register my name) yet before I ask a question that is probably very repetitive, I keep reading. The reason people write articles or post stuff is because they want people to reference that later. If people don’t read what has been posted, isn’t that kinda insulting.

Also when the senior people say, “Eat big, Train hard and heavy” ect ect ect, don’t you think there is some truth in it. Most people are looking for that answer, “Get big without getting bigger” type answer.

“It is better to be thought of a fool, then to open your mouth and remove all doubt” I want to give that to new people (and myself since I’ve asked dumb questions)

Isn’t that what we all want… Shit I do, I check my inbox daily

I know I’m kissing ass right now, but a lot of the big posters here who get fed up by giving the same advice time and time again do so because they’ve been dishing it out for YEARS. Yes they should keep an open mind, but if they don’t its really not my loss. We can all learn from each other, but when I’m trying to get from 180 to 250, I’m going to listen to the ones who have done so already.

Where are YOURS?

You always quote invisible gurus and nameless pro’s but what have YOU done? What do YOU do besides read something and spit it out on a forum like it’s your own?

This is what you wrote earlier today:

“Lift heavy and intensely, maintain a caloric deficit either by restricting calories, w/ cardio, or a combination of the 2 while getting at least 1 gram of protein per lb of LEAN BODY MASS (not body weight). That will result in fat loss while retaining as much muscle as possible.”

Well no shit, where’d you get that? A Weider magazine when you were taking a shit? Pretty much the same advice you’re bagging on X for giving, in the same DAY. Pathetic, man.

C’mon dude, the witch hunt vibe sucks and it’s boring. X is a great representative, especially for beginners in this pursuit who are hungry to improve. Your whole stance, no matter how honorable and White Knight you think it may be, smacks very loudly of jealousy whether you think it does or not.

Nothing i like better than arguing on the internet (sigh)

So here it goes:

  1. As has been noted in the T-Cell when someone asked WHY X bothers he noted that Mr. Patterson took the time out of his day to ring him and thank him. Don’t know about you, but i would feel pretty damn good that the owner of the site recognized my hard work. However as you noted the question gets repeated X’000’s of times and you might know that it may start annoying you after a while. Hence why to some it may appear he is being overly gruff. But if someone really is going to get “THAT” upset over someones “tone” on the internet then they have bigger issues.

  2. Most of your 2nd point i have answered in my 1st, but to offer a point of view on

Come now, be serious… do you honestly think the man answers every beginners question just for his ego ??? That would be pretty damn silly, more likely this forum has caused him to bang his head off the wall numerous times more than anything else.

As he noted, and you seem to keep missing them… he works as a Dental Surgeon and in between clients he posts on here. Pretty damn good use of spare time, to help beginners get started no ? Don’t know about you but i think thats pretty damn good of him.

You call it “ego boosting” i call it, being helpfull. 2 sides of every coin eh ?

  1. Yes amazingly that IS what he told me as did Cephalic, Modok and several others, amazing you take help off Ceph who is HEAVIER than X but somehow you think X is fooling himself and is just overweight ?? Double standards for people who help you v’s those who don’t eh ?

As for the 2nd part, now come on no need for little digs, i was invited due to my good progress that’s all, i am taking the time to post here as i was brought up with the saying “Nice to be nice to nice people” Mr. X has been nothing but kind and helpfull along with others to me so when i see him being blatently got at then yes i will offer my 2c for him.

Nothing to do with “Sitting at his table” just good manners.

  1. His protoges can be found all over the forum, look in the T-Cell i believe Short Hoss just started a thread thanking him. Funnily i see no threads thanking you

What I’m always surprised about is the general mis-interpretation of what individuals like X promote.

The most frequent critique is that they advocate people eat whatever they want and get fat, and if they so happen to add muscle well that’s good too.

I have never seen any of the big guys advocate eating shit food in an effort to get big. They advocate eating lots of normal, good food, and that eating a hamburger isn’t a bad thing you should go a self-flagellate yourself about.

I think people tend to get annoyed that they don’t get listened to with the advice they trot out after reading some latest fad piece by author ABCDE, whereas someone like X who is quite vocal on his rather straigthforward standpoint, does.

Jealously? Nah, I tend to go with (don’t know if you guys refer to it in your part of the world) tall poppy syndrome.

Oh, and I have qualifications, relevant qualifications, and experience, lots of experience, and I wouldn’t be sticking around here if the guys I like reading (X, Modok, Ceph, Stu, just as 4 examples) weren’t providing useful, thoughtful information that I was using to continually refine and question what I do.

I have no problem with anything you wrote per se, but ask yourself what purpose this thread serves, or any of the other threads that either start this way or end this way.

I agree prof has been helpful, but at the same time I think he’s never competed, never will compete, has never trained anyone, has no credentials and hasn’t posted many pictures other than a few grainy ones here or there (no legs as far as I know- blasphemy for anyone outside of the “core” group of self-appointed board elite).

Keep in mind that he’s the one that started this thread, and it isn’t the first time. He spends a lot of time bitching and moaning and has 28,000 (TWENTY-EIGHT THOUSAND) posts…he slags off other members, authors, etc. THAT’s the issue.

If all X did was give his opinion on training/eating, I would think he were fantastic. It’s all the negativity about others (newbs, coaches, etc.) and superior self-perception that, in my opinion, subjects him to a heightened level of scrutiny.

I am in this forum because I love bodybuilding. I started skipping lunch so that I can save my lunch money and buy bodybuilding magazines when I was in the 8th grade (1987 or so). I read and re-read “The Education of a Bodybuilder” starting then as well. Sadly, I have not thus far translated my love for bodybuilding to my own physique. :frowning:

Good then i didn’t waste my time (so far)

So continuing on,

Mr. X was in the Air Force, now he is a Dental Surgeon… i don’t think competing is HIGH on his list of “to do” at the moment, earning a living is slightly more important. And anyway that point is moot, i have seen pictures of guys with NO right to be on stage but they do… because they “competed” they know better ? Now now you know that’s not correct.

As for pictures, either has Ceph… WHY you ask for the very reason this thread was made, some muppets with not a notion of what muscle looks like would immediately call either of them “morbidly obese” dunno about you, i wouldn’t be to eager to put up pictures, and come to think of it you haven’t even filled in your weight section ! Pot - kettle - black ???

Come now, your berating him for his POST count ? he is here 7 YEARS * 365 days = 2555 days so less than 10 posts a day ?? Not exactly exorbitant by any means now is it when you break it down. As for slagging off members/authors COME ON now your just becoming childish… everyone slags off everyone it’s what human beings do best ! that’s just a childish point.

Because he is here 7 years, i think he knows better than you or i how this site USED to be, before the advent of Kettle balls and the ilk… so he prefers the old days SO WHAT, from CT’s post Mr. Patterson is taking T-Nation back to it’s bodybuilding roots, then you won’t see X complaining. It takes people to complain before something is DONE.

And in closing, i would bet my savings that X has helped more people than you probably KNOW in either this site or at home/work etc etc. so if he acts a little superior SO WHAT. He has earned it, you spend 7 years helping people and get back to us how you feel.

Regards.

I’m not a bodybuilder, nor do I identify with the community that much. I just lurk so I can pick up on other people’s ideas, and maybe learn something or two.

LOL!!

So, people who have ZERO pics ever posted and absolutely no personal info posted on this forum think my pictures aren’t clear enough and want my credentials posted openly? First, as a doc my name and personal info is available at a click…way too easy to find in my opinion to post openly on a site like this. Enough people here do know me by name and that includes some who left by now (Like rainjack and Nate). For someone with no info available, you sure do want a lot from me.

My pics have been posted in the T-Cell for almost a year now. If that isn’t good enough for you, that’s just too bad. I am so sorry my pocket video camera isn’t up to your standards or preferred amount of megapixels. Apparently you can’t tell I lift from my pictures…which is funny since your lack of ANY photos causes me to think you don’t lift at all.

This thread was about why people who think bodybuilders all have small penises and mother issues (this was actually posted in another thread) keep logging into bodybuilding topics to express their hatred for bodybuilding. For some strange reason this offends you.

That is just too bad. You don’t seem to be getting much support on that one.

I’ll be sure to take a pic of my legs soon just for you…since this is a source of frustration for you.

However, it sure is funny guys like you remain hidden in anonymity yet want my entire resume open on this forum.

Ask Tim Patterson if I measure up.

Professor X,
As I posted earlier in this thread, I’ve argued many times with you about juice. After reading your discussions with Airtruth etc… I begin to see an odd tendency on your part. Whenever the discussion turns to juice, you become very defensive. As I have said in discussions with you before, you seem to really underestimate how potent steroids are. Not that you dont know, because I would be shocked if you yourself didn’t use, going by the way you respond to discussions involving pharmaceuticals.

What I am saying is this. People that juice can, within 4-5 months, overtake in many aspects, especially aesthetically, a hard-working knowledgeable individual that has been hitting the weights and eating properly for the better part of a decade.

You seem to fall back on, “Oh yea, well how come more people dont look like pro bodybuilders?” Well its probably because pro bodybuilders have good genetics, and just as important, are some of the more knowledgeable and harder working juicers. But the point is, a lazy ass that juices will still look damn good very quickly!

Lastly, and one of the bigger problems I have with steroids is what they do to your drive. The old “well people who juice still have to go to the gym” argument falls apart because juice MAKES you want to go to the gym. It gives you that drive. You dont ever want to miss the gym, you always want to eat, it gives you will power you dont really have. Its fucking cheating.

Juicers should have more respect for those who get strong and big without being on, “Damn man, you are strong, I dont know if I would be that strong if I wasnt on juice” Instead of “Yea I bench around 450… just keep working you will get stronger” bahahaha, its like having answers for the test and being impressed with yourself for passing… bahahhaaa

Guy, the only people talking about steroids in this thread are the ones who likely haven’t achieved ground one in terms of their own development.

Why do you think they refuse to post any pictures of their progress?

Maybe you should start a new thread since this topic concerns you so.

Shadowzz i think this thread, has gotten just a LITTLE off topic, perhaps save your argument for another day, i’m sure it will come up again.

There are plenty of people who boasts their pictures, stats and whatever else they want regardless of whether someone will use the information against them… Besides you do nothing wrong how could anybody possibly degrade you for it?

Sorry we don’t appreciate you enough. HUG

Edit: Also kind of funny that people have been posting real answers but you’re busy answering the idiots who are merely antagonizing you

I refuse to answer your questions because you are looking to do nothing with it but try to either degrade the progress I have made or to act like I couldn’t have done it.

Is this coming from the same guy who tells everybody that they can’t say shit about biceps unless they post a picture of their biceps? or Can’t talk about training to be a bodybuilder unless they are 250+?

There are plenty of people who boasts their pictures, stats and whatever else they want regardless of whether someone will use the information against them… Besides you do nothing wrong how could anybody possibly degrade you for it?

None of the people posting “real answers” are the trolls or posters I was referring to in the original post.

I thought I made the question very clear. If someone is NOT one of the people who logs into other threads simply to state they hate bodybuilding, then why are they posting here?
