Why Are Squats Considered Quad Dominant?

Hmm, I seem to be the opposite of everyone here.

I’ve tried many different variations of squats, and while I do feel my glutes working, it’s almost all quads for me. I don’t know if I’ve ever really felt my hamstrings really working during a squat.

Anyone know of any cues to get the hamstrings into it?

This is true for me as well if I am going heavy, but personally I prefer high bar, ATG back squats 20 rep “breathing style” when really trying to work my quads. Not arguing that front squats aren’t good quad builders as well though.[/quote]

Haha, thanks Mat, I’ve been posting a lot over on the Combat Sports forum lately, been preparing to test for my black belt (24 hour test) and haven’t had much time to post over here on the BB’ing forum. Plus to be honest, there haven’t been many intriguing thread topics on here lately that I’ve felt compelled to comment on.

I noticed that as well. I don’t even think I could get that deep with that narrow of a stance. It obviously worked for him though…
