I like where you’re going with this and I’m not accusing you of being sexist but it’s not just women who are sedentary. Almost every American is sedentary.
On a brighter note, while there may be more fat girls out there today, I believe that the hot women are hotter than in years past.
A 10 in 2008 is hotter than a 10 you’d find in 1970.
Our society’s attitude towards food, and my intolerance of that attitude and attention to healthy eating, make me feel defiant. I feel like I am under attack, everyone would encourage and prefer and pressure me to adopt lousy eating habits.
Look at all the ads, the commercials, what the restaurants serve. Combine that with an overwhelming majority of shit foods filling up the stores, (and addicting ingredients in said shit foods) and people not having a clue about what constitutes proper healthy nutrition or healthy serving sizes. You’ve got a shit-storm, my friends.
And it isn’t women specifically. However, I feel that women are perhaps more guilty of using and abusing food for emotional purposes. Sad or depressed? they eat chocolate, ice cream. They are also often the ones cooking and eat a lot as they cook for others, trade recipes, etc.
And everyone just fucking accepts these standards! Every societal function involves food - usually crap food - from dates, to parties, to meetings, everywhere you turn it’s in your face. It’s an uphill battle, and those of us who value our health must be vigilant.
It must that sense of entitlement that everyone seems to have today.
“Sure, I’m overweight, but I’m just as sexy as Jessica Alba. Now do me.”
“Ummm… no.”
“You’re a pig!”
It doesn’t matter whether you’re male or female, your body fat should lie within the acceptable realm (6-13% for men & 16-20% for women). If it doesn’t your lazy and mooching off taxpayers money when the government has to pay for an emergency gastric bypass or whatever the fuck it is these days. (/rant)

I never said they are poor. The problem is that here, most of them go for government funding anyway. Another issue is that for whatever reason, gastric bypass is given higher priority over some more life threatening operations.
I suppose 13% is a little low, but carrying around a spare tire is certainly not doing you any favors. BTW, I grabbed those numbers off wikipedia. If you really want to be pedantic about it, your BF should be 2-5%

I dont know what it should or shouldnt be for optimum health etc.
the way you said it was.
If you arent 6-13% bf then your mooching off the goverment when they have to pay for emergency gastric bypass surgery. Which led me to believe that you were inferring.
Fat people are poor.
Fat people are mooches.
and anything over 13% bf is fat.
Thats how it came off to me anyway, not a big deal either way.
The following applies to pretty much all my posts and IS NOT directed at anyone in particular
If you are lifting weights and at least attempting to become healthy (excluding fad diets and all that shit), then any jibes I make are NOT DIRECTED AT YOU.
Every insult I make about overweight people is directed at the lazy ones who make no effort to change. The people I complain about are the ones who eat their way into obesity and then complain about it without making the slightest effort to lose weight and become healthier in general.
Funny this is a thread becuause my girl has slipped on going to the gym and hasn’t really made an effort to exercise. She asked me if I could tell she was’t exercising and I said yes.
It is like anything else a person has to want to to be in shape they can’t be forced, and most people are too lazy and just take shortcuts. Having overweight friends doesn’t help either.
Laziness does not discriminate. Members of both sexes are guilty of it. Women are just dealt with an evolutionary deck of cards that predisposes them to storing more fat if they’re not diligent with their lifestyle.
I see tons of skinny teenage boys who are equally as gluttonous as fatties, yet they seem to get a free pass in terms of their lifestyles.
Our society’s attitude towards food, and my intolerance of that attitude and attention to healthy eating, make me feel defiant. I feel like I am under attack, everyone would encourage and prefer and pressure me to adopt lousy eating habits.

I feel the exact same way. And as a FFB, it’s even more of an uphill battle. Every social activity seems to revolve around either: a)shitty food b)alcohol c)both. Both of them prime the body to be fatter and unhealthier, but they’re seemingly unavoidable if you don’t want to be labeled an outcast.

Hey I think they base ‘obesity’ off of BMI, which would pretty much put most of the population in that category which is total bs also.
You mean I’m really a fattie? Oh gawd! No! I’m gonna go splurge on oatmeal and blueberries to compensate for my emotional distress!
But seriously, that is such BS. BMI is a flawed concept at best. BF% would solve a lot of the worlds “globesity” problem.

Well said by the Kiwi!
I understand where you’re coming from here but according to this post, I’m am on the verge of obesity (realizing that you were generalizing).
Guidelines are good but can also be warped. BMI is the perfect example.
No comment on the gastric bypasses but as far as what is considered fat…beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to think that a guy around 6’ and 300 pounds is perfect (for my taste). To many, that would be considered overweight.
Makavali wrote:
300 pounds of what, though? That’s the issue here. It isn’t about sexual preference, it’s the fact that they may well be incredibly unhealthy.
If you go back and read the original post, I think there was reference to what he considered attractive. At least the way I read it. No mention really of health until the last paragraph. I’ll have to go back and re-read it.
To answer your question, I prefer a powerlifter build over a bodybuilder one. That uber lean look doesn’t appeal to me. You see, it’s a matter of personal preference but I won’t go on there because most of you are talking about people that don’t eat right or workout in general. Even in that instance, it’s their choice and I don’t get overly worked up about what others choose to do or not do.
