Fat is Fabulous!

The article is posted here: Fat is fabulous, insist anti-diet protesters | World news | The Guardian

That’s right, be obese… honor your body… when you have heart problems at age 30, we’ll see how fab. Your flab is.

I truly feel for those who are genetically predisposed to obesity, but have no reservation for those who “choose” to be that way. At any rate, the only people they’re hurting are themselves.

If its your genetics, fine, whatever. But wait, aren’t most of us trying to do something with the limitations that we have? Hell, I should look like I run long distance, but I’m starting to look a bit more on the stocky side cause of hard work and discipline.

And no, you shouldn’t remove part of your stomach if it is a healthy organ. YOUR SHOULD SHOVE QUALITY FOOD DOWN YOUR THROAT AND GET YOUR LARD ASS TO THE GYM!!!

Wann is more blunt: ‘We are in the middle of a witch hunt and we are the witches.’ She says that, like most Naafa members, she eats healthily and exercises regularly - yet is still fat.

Yeah… I am sure that that statement is true. I would love to see a food log for her.

Carrot Cake - whole- Has carrots = healthy

OR maybe an exercise program would be nice to see as well.

Fell out of bed - resisted urge to lie there until somebody helped me up = resistance training.

I too feel bad for those people genetically predisposed to being fat, but who can honestly say that they eat healthy and exercise regularly and not lose fat. If that happened to me, I would consider the possibility that I am a new breed of human that is not affected by exercise the way every other person who actualy puts effort into exercising is.

I can’t stand people like that. your bodies aren’t designed to put up with that much stress and weight on joints and everything else. Plus it’s detrimental to your party and social life. And yeah it just looks so bad, I don’t know why people want to be the “way they are” when you could look like a bad ass, and have like 3 chicks on your arms at once.

Sorry rant over, I only got like 2 hours of sleep in the past three days.

Peace,
Jordan

You’re awesome dave

Did you know that here in the UK you can get a gastric bypass paid for by the national health service. my taxes pay for that! how wrong is that?

Hey, if the fat people are happy being fat-- more power to them. Hell, I’d even go so far as to say I’m happy for them for being able to accept their obesity.

I fully acknowledge that some people can gain or lose weight easier than others.

BUT, I strongly dispute the notion that some people, no matter how well they allegedly eat or how much they supposedly exercise, are destined to be fat.

In the words of my father, a practicing physician for the last 35 years and a weightlifter for the last 45:

“There are no fat people in concentration camps.”

I myself know quite a few obese people and most of them don’t really eat that much, I actually think that is part of their problem. Their metabolism just moves at a snails pace. But I still wanted to say I don’t think they should get as much shit as they do for being fat. Put yourself in their shoes one time. I mean them being ashamed for their fat and being made fun of could be a lot like some of the little guys in here being picked on for being 6ft tall and only 145lbs. It makes you feel inadequate and shamefull. I think no matter how somebody looks they don’t deserve that. Just think of all the things in life they miss out on because of their size. I mean I believe in lifestyle as a huge contributer but I know several siblings where one sister is thin and the other is obese with similar eating habits. Sometimes genetics is just plain mean!

moderatextreme- your right, fat people are put to shame by society and I’m sure it doesn’t make them feel too good about themselves. But they souldn’t feel sorry for themselves, they should take that negative reinforcement and put it to good use. Get fucking serious about changing their body! I was on the other extreme of the pendulum, 6’4’’ at a whopping 147lbs! I was odviouly genetically predesposed to be a bean pole for the rest of my weak life. But I’ll be DAMNED if I’m gonna let “nature” decide who I am! Ut-Uh, where theres a will, theres a way. So I’m sorry, but I have zero patience for lazy self-sobbers.

Buy the way, I read a similar article in my local paper. I described how the NAAFA activists were protesting Southwest Airlines because the airline stated that if one is too large to fit into one seat and must use a second seat for “overflow” than said person should purchase the second seat. Completely logical and only fair, right? WRONG according to the NAAFA militants, because it’s “demeaning.”

“where are all the fat dead bodies?”

I have an answer, in big huge coffins, and oversized urns. Does this moron expect to see them left in the streets or something… stupid blue whales

I just laughed reading this whole article!

“He also claims dieting is responsible for making people fat by triggering a ‘starvation response’ in the body which, when dieting stops, starts storing ‘emergency’ fat in increasing amounts, a pattern repeated after each failed diet.”

Well, no $hit Sherlock. Interestingly enough, the rest of us “thin” people have long figured out that caloric deprivation won’t make and keep you “thin”. Idiots.

this reminds me, i once saw a show about a woman who weighed in at … i don’t know… 500 lbs? she was MASSIVE. she didn’t even wear clothes, she just walked around naked in her home. would get breathless just going to the bathroom. and her sagging areas had developed HARD skin from all the friction. it was just foul… that cannot be within normal human limits, she was diseased.

That’s the greatest thing I’ve ever heard. Hope he doesn’t mind if I steal it

Moderatextreme, I will admit that I am not the most caring person when it comes to this topic. But remember the name is SHORTdave, I know what it is like to be picked on for a physical difference, and hey, no matter what I do, I can’t grow another 8 inches… taller.

And if a person makes an effort to better themselves physically, I give them a tonne of respect, whether they can squat only the bar, or 700lbs, as long as they are putting forth a credible effort, I give them the respect.

I do know that genetics has a great role in this game as well, my family has a history of being heavy, I was not cursed in that way, but I do know that when my family makes the effort to lose the weight, while it may come off slower than mine does, it still comes off.

And I will never get down on somebody who can truly say that they are happy being fat, that their is no voice in the corner of their mind saying how nice it would be to walk around the beach without a shirt on, or to be able to run and play with their kids. If you find that person, let me know and I will never make fun of them, I just haven’t met one yet.

Until exercise makes me blubbery, I will still be adamant that if they dedicated time and effort into an exercise program, they will lose weight.

First post. Hi.

I didn’t know there were such things as fat acceptance group. It’s one of those things that kind of makes me step back and say… ‘They have those now too?’

It just seems strange to me. Strange that there are people celebrating, even being proud of, a serious health problem. I contest Mr. Campos’ position that ‘fat does not have to mean unhealthy’. Of course, some fat is necessary. But I’m talking about the critically overweight and the obese.

When a person is obese… they begin to lose their defining features as human beings. Lines of definiton blur as they grow closer to becoming one shapeless blob. It sounds mean, I know, but it’s true. Sometimes the truth hurts. Does an obese arm look that different from an obese leg? Think about it carefully. Perhaps the scariest change is a face; how it becomes puffed up and features are distorted.

So… why are they celebrating being like this? I think they’re simply trying to justify being obese. They’re trying to legitimize obesity as just being another fact of life, like a disease they can’t control. It’s always easier that way, isn’t it? To blame something else. That way, because it’s ‘not their fault’, they become victims, and as such, they create a lobby group to try to gain advantages for victims.

Long story short? If you’re flying Southwestern Airlines, it’s your own fault your ass is too big to fit in the seat, so just buy another one and shut the hell up. You should be embarrased enough that you need a second seat for your ass, I can’t imagine that you’d announce it in public and demand a free second seat because you think you’re being discriminated against.

Uh oh. Time to get back on the soapbox. If there is one thing in this world that makes me stand up and holler, it’s obesity – and the consequences of it. A few of y’all may recall some of the other threads we had a while back about this shit, but this just aggravates me to no end. And I’m glad, really, that we can vent a little on these forums, and it may not necessarily change anything right now for anybody, but at least we can vent.

I love this crap:

“She says that, like most NAAFA members, she eats healthily and exercises regularly - yet is still fat.”

I doubt seriously, VERY seriously, if Ms. Wann even knows what it would be like to eat truly “healthily” for three days straight. Could she go more than a week without ice cream, or cake, or ho-ho’s, or twinkies, or… you know what I’m saying here. And exercising regularly; that’s a friggin’ joke. Walking from the kitchen to the bathroom to the TV and back is NOT regular exercise! So we are to believe that “like most NAAFA members”, who espouse a lifestyle of proper diet and regular exercise, she just miraculously breaks the laws of physiology and stays fat. Typical.

And this one:

“She says figures blaming obesity for hundreds of thousands of premature deaths in America are wrong: ‘Where are all the fat dead bodies?’”

Actually, sweetheart, the numbers are a bit conservative. I think we could go on and blame a few more deaths on obesity which didn’t make it into the “mainstream calculations”. But don’t take my word for it… just ask the morgue-full of fat folks we have in my hospital over here in Tallahassee. Do you really want to see the bodies? Because at any time of the day, any day of the week I can take you into my morgue, and show them to you. They are literally dropping like flies. And the only reason we haven’t run out of fat bastards like you to die is because there are so damn many of you around here. It’s almost a relief, sometimes, when we have the rare person die of old age instead of congestive heart failure, or kidney failure or massive stroke or heart attack. Seriously now, guys, this is no joke – if you live in Tallahassee, and you die, if it’s not caused by a car, bullet, knife, drugs, old age, or cancer… I can pretty much guarantee that you were fat. And when I say “pretty much guarantee”, I mean somewhere in the neighborhood of 99.999%.

Yes, being fat is indeed both glamorous and acceptable. Just like being dead is. See you soon!

The last two posts more or less summarize my feelings on this subject. What a joke.
