Wector, when was the last time you lifted an Atlas Stone and set it on a pedestal? Iām gonna guess never. This is a staple event of strongman competitions. Would you believe that taller people with longer arms have a greater capacity for lifting heavy stones and placing them on tall pedestals than shorter people? It doesnāt take a genius to know that. How about the Fingal Fingers event? Yoke walks and car deadlifts generally favor taller competitors as well. Itās just how the competition is set up. It favors tall athletes.
The bench press does not favor tall or short athletes, because you lay down to do it. A leg-less man could potentially bench press 700 lbs.
As for your Eric Spoto argument specifically⦠There is no good reason to believe he would fare well in strongman competitions. I wouldnāt care if he was 6ā10, Iād say the same thing, because bench press DOES NOT TRANSLATE well to strongman. It just doesnāt. Overhead strength and deadlift strength are far more important.

There is, in fact, a video of a legless man benching 672 in competition.

Slight derail (but who cares in this shitshow of a thread I guess lol), but Siamand Rahman has bench pressed over 700lbs, and he is essentially leg-less. His legs are withered and defunct from polio unfortunately, but yea, I thought you might be interested to know about his bench feats if you hadnāt heard of him before.
