Who's Your Favorite Strength Athlete?

Mine?? It’s a tough decision. I have yet to make up my mind.

The guy in your avatar

lol. Dimas? Me too, kinda. I still don’t know who my favorite really is. Dimas is definitely one of my top 5 though…

Invictica may not be as strong, but he’s way more awesome than Dimas in general.

Wendler

Chris Jenkins.

Nice to see him have a log on elite FTS now. I was waiting for a while for that one.

Misha Koklyaev.

The guy’s having too much fun, toying with giant weights in different disciplines.

Lu Yong

2008 Olympics 85kg Winner

I’m biased cause we have the same weightclass, blood and heritage.

Kaz.

Cool guy too, when I met him a few years ago.

Koklyaev.

Odd Haugen for a close second.

Kevin Nee or Matt Kroc. it’s a tie.

They both inspire me in the fact that they have full-time jobs and life commitments and obligations, but they still find time to pound in the food and the weights.

You-tube vidz of Kroc. the shit he does and can lift is fucking insane!!!

Met him too…

…he was actually a bit of dick (unlike Kaz and Odd).

Pretty much the coolest WSM competitor that I met and hung with for a little while is the late Jesse Mardunde (and his wife). I was really sad when I learned of his untimely death. He and his wife were such genuinely nice people. And the funny thing is that I was “hanging with him” while he was competing at the WSM competition in Venice Beach in the Summer of 2005 (I was hanging out in the competitor tent – long story as to how I got there). I was mostly chatting with his wife, but between events, he would come back and chat and hang out like we were old friends (even though it was the first time we had met) and as if he wasn’t in the middle of a close competition. Really down to earth people. I feel so sad for his wife.

Odd put the event on. Jesse finished second to Mariusz.

Magnus Samuelson, he’s another guy with pretty incredible abilities who just seems very down to earth.

It’s hard to say. I have been a big fan of Chuck Vogelpohl ever since I got into the sport. But going back to watching him in 1980 Olympics, I have been Aleksiev fan.

Me too. Yong is a robot, the real Astro Boy. 100, 000 HorsePower and shit.

I knew Yong was as hard as coffin nails when he missed his second lift [elbow bend] and then you see back in the competitor room that he blasted off a hand callus. They tell him he has to lift again at 214 C&J to take the gold and he doesn’t even give a shit, hole in hand or no. And he rips it like he could for 3.

Got to be yurik vardanian. To think that he cleaned 230kg at 82.5kg BW is just beyond all reasoning seeing that he had legs more like a distance runner than a weightlifter.
Just can’t understand it???

Definitely Misha. He might not be my favorite strongman, but he is so versatile and successful in multiple strength sports, while having fun doing it, that you can’t help but like the guy.

strongman= mariuz or svend karlson

highlands= craig smith and eric frasure

chicks= kara bohigan smith and shannon harnett (both do pl, ol, strongwoman, and HG)

pl ladies= becca swanson and priscilla ribic

pl dudes= capt kirk karowski and chuck vogelpohl

names may be mispelled…doesn’t take away from their awesomeness

Matt Kroc and Mariusz Pudzianowski.

Kroc is very inspiring and Pudzianowski is just… well… inhuman.
