Lu Yong

2008 Olympics 85kg Winner

I’m biased cause we have the same weightclass, blood and heritage.

Me too. Yong is a robot, the real Astro Boy. 100, 000 HorsePower and shit.

I knew Yong was as hard as coffin nails when he missed his second lift [elbow bend] and then you see back in the competitor room that he blasted off a hand callus. They tell him he has to lift again at 214 C&J to take the gold and he doesn’t even give a shit, hole in hand or no. And he rips it like he could for 3.

balls made of melted down AK47’s

That clip is amazing. He comes out for his final lift not looking pissed or scared, just slightly annoyed and just tears the thing off the ground. He’s ridculously consistent in his lifting.

The reffing was horseshit though. Andrei Rybakou was vibrating like a paint shaker on all his lifts and barely locked out anything. Lu had way cleaner lifts and way more consistent.

But I guess it’s pretty to be strong and consistent when you have a set of balls made out of melted down AK47’s

Tony Conyers. Hes one of the top 165ers in the world raw and been that way for years. Posted a 1500+ total at the RAW unity meet, and correct me if im wrong, hes over 50??..simply amazing and humbling.

Ryan Celli was awesome at the raw unity meet. 535 bench at 198!

Conyers also has the highest squat at 165, mid 800s?

i just found the Lu Yong clip on youtube if anyone else hasnt seen it

470 pounds - badass.

Dang sir, That’s some serious ABS tubing to get those innocent people in. Babies better break they selves.

Ahhh, I got it. It really was a tough decision between Ed Coan, Dimas, Sagir, and Boevski. I’m gonna pick Taner Sagir mainly because he doesn’t even look like he lift weights. He’s under 200 pounds but has a 400+ pound clean and jerk… On top of all that, he’s only 19 when he accomplished those things.

an innocent person launching gun that is fueled by Hate and Greenhouse gases.

here’s another one, he looks completely jacked. Obviously he didn’t carb up right and pump up right for the olympics. He was looking a little flat.

Wait wut.

As far as female powerlifters go, I gotta go with Nance Avigliano. We had a bit of a falling out a few years, but what she did was still amazing. She didn’t start powerlifting until she was 40 years old, and by the time she was 45, she squatted 556 lbs. at a body weight of only 131 (she overshot by a lb.).

I don’t know if it still holds up as the best female PL squat (by formula) of all time, but at one time it was #1.

i’m a fan of many strength athletes, but lamar gant is way up there for me- that 5X BW deadlift was ridiculous.

big fan of tony conyers, according to his website, tony is lifetime drug free and he totalled a raw 10X BW total at 52 years old.

cao lei - also a chinese weightlifter- her numbers were not as awesome as her team mates, but if you can find footage of her competing in women’s 75 kg in beijing- she just has awesome presence. watching her lift is pretty inspiring.

Celli was deffinitely just the shit at that meet it was unbelievable. With the squat, i think Al Caslow has the record at like 865 or something…not too sure

Just another post that showcases your legendary sense of humor. You really are awesome.

Matt Kroc is very inspirational to me. Seeing him get fired up for a big lift makes me want to flip over a refrigerator or something lol

Bencher- Ryan Kennelly

Powerlifter- Captain Kirk

Raw powerlifter- Sergej Moser

Strongman- Johnny Perry

Olympic lifter- Ken Patera

Is Paul Anderson’s 1200+ pound raw squat a myth?

Plenty of really cool down to earth strong fellows out there, good on them all.

Odd Haugen, coz he gives an old guy hope

His son pretty damned strong too, hope he comes back to the sport soonish
