Who's Running a Sheiko Routine?

I just wanted to know how many people were running any form of Sheiko right now.

This does NOT include people considering it or who have run it before.

Just trying to get a general concensus of how many followers are out there.

I’m vaugely following the rep scheme, but focusing on a couple weak points and learning some gear. I’ll run a more conventional one in about a month.

I’m currently doing the 13 week routine that was mentioned in the T-Nation article. I trained Sheiko for about 14 months until earlier this year. I did all the 3 day 4 week cycles that Eric had posted on elite. I got burnt out on it and then did 5/3/1 for 6 months. Now I’m 4 weeks back into it.

Just finished my first week of “Sheiko Shakes up Powerlifting.”

I have a log going here.

Running #29 at the moment.

I am currently running a modified version of a modified version.

From what I understand, the original routine was basically the comp cycle (could be wrong, didn’t look into the difference too much) found on the joe skopec’s site:
http://www.joeskopec.com/programs.html

The routine I am using based on THAT routine is Wade Hooper’s 06’ nation’s cycle:
http://rapidshare.com/files/288154362/WADE_HOOPER_Nationals06.xls.html

My routine, if you see my log (I’ll post the link below) is heavily (emphasis on heavily) altered from Hooper’s routine. Making this routine work over time takes creativity, but allows for many accommodations, as you can see from my log:

I’m gonna start one in a week or two, I’ve done a couple of them, they are good.

Running #29 at the moment. But i’ll be going back to westside when its done. I just like the freedom of westside and its a little simpler IMO. But anytime I need a higher volume phase or a prep phase, i’ll probably come back to one of the early sheiko programs. They are official.

How the hell is Westside simpler than Sheiko?

In sheiko you need to find your SPP exercises, but it’s much simpler than WSB - if you are doing the real WSB.

I have NOTHING to say…

I’m currently in week two of the lower volume bates/talmant 13 week thing on the bmf sheiko board. Enjoying it so far, but it’s early days.

In sheiko, the weight and sets/reps you use have to be “correct”

In westside, you are only doing this on DE days. The rest of the time you are picking an exercise and building to a max.

They are both actually very simple, just for me westside is simpler.

Also, you could say, what is westside, and what is sheiko?

The way I see it,

Westside utilizes an upper/lower split 2x per week each, and utilizes ME, DE, and sometimes RE work

Sheiko is 3x per week, sometimes 4x. Is full body, with 2 competeition lifts per workout. Utilizes DE, and SE to an extent and is periodized to progress from volume to intensity.

You could try to argue that westside MUST use all kinds of variations of the comp. lifts, and tons of accessory work, and bands, chains, and be very complicated, but the you’d be wrong.

So they are both pretty simple, and actually dont have to be different AT ALL. Its really just the layout of the days, and the loads you are using that differ.

This wasn’t the direction I wanted to take with this threat at all…

Every interview I listen to from big name lifters always points in the same direction… internet forums are the worst thing for this sport…

This is a prime example…

How is this relevant? I do NOT want a westside vs sheiko discussion here.

Sorry didn’t mean to redirect the thread, but the usual trolls steered it that way before me.

No? Well, let’s argue about geared vs. raw powerlifting then…

Also, what I was getting at was that Im going to go back to training westside, but some it will still be very much like sheiko. I like the 4day upper/lower layout, but feel that I will benefit more from training a lot of my lifts like sheiko instead of always building up to a 1rm on ME days. So I will be running westside, but it will also resemble sheiko to an extent.

And ya forums are kinda rediculous. Im getting tired of all the douche bags, that try to tell me how im a beginner, or that I dont know anything or im “inexperienced” when they dont know anything about me or how much i have accomplished. If they saw me in the gym in real life they wouldn’t say shit, and if anything would probably be training much like me, but since they have the annonymity of the internet they suddenly become “experienced”. The whole reason it is said that forums are the worst thing that has happened to the sport isn’t the advice “inexperienced” lifters are giving. Its the pissing contests and negativety that typical forum users bring about. Wade hooper said it in one of those interviews you told me about. There is no room for negativity or worrying about what the other guy is doing when you are training to be the best.

We know enough about you from your idiotic posts and your lifting stats that you shamelessly admit.

You’re right, though. We’re not focused enough on your accompishments. Your 350 deadlift at 210 after 3 years of training is QUITE an accomplishment, dankid.
Let’s all have a big round of applause.

Seriously, you’ve accomplished nothing. Yet you give endless, terrible advice to those who are more experienced than you.
Quoting Louie Simmons does NOT make you an experienced lifter.
