Wholesome Booty Talk

You really should have explained the wholesome part :joy:

A butt selfie is way harder than it looks. I wanted to get a little of the second cheek in there but for the life of me I could not turn/twist that much.
I’ve been losing weight (cut cycle) so none of my underwear is tight anymore.
Sorry about the dirty mirror the grand kids were over during the weekend and we had squirt gun fights in the hall.

That’s a splendid shot.

No worries about the mirror. My bedroom mirror gets dusty and fuzzy quickly due to having 4 dogs and fur just gets everywhere

I found one of my old posing trunks from the '90’s. I usually wore black.
Warning!!! This is a 72 year old man’s arse.

But I mean. It’s a nice picture of a 72 year olds ass.

First DL’s in months completed here this am, but took it super easy on the weight. Felt good, and did DL’s after squats.

@FlatsFarmer has been adding some great links into his training log too of late (but I see you’ve been posting there too recently).

When I see something nice (female squating, hamstring curl, back extensions, etc) I’m like Don’t look Don’t look, then I move on to well don’t stare don’t stare, then I move to okay, don’t be so obvious, and finally, try not to make it creepy.

I suspect they are on to us though. My gym put in a bunch of mirrors, and the owner told a group of guys, be careful, they can see you looking now.

I’ve only been at a US commercial gym for 3 weeks and I’ve noticed a shocking amount of creepy behaviour.

None of it directed at me though. I guess there are advantages to being tiny and ugly

Before this, I was at my uni gym, so no creeps and the men at the commercial gyms in China were not creepy at all even though there were plenty of very attractive, rich young women wearing not very much clothes

What do you consider creepy?

Stopping sets to stare at a woman squatting
Making suggestive comments

Clearly they aren’t their to work out…treating the gym like a bar

Report these guys to staff

My comment is somewhat pertinent to ā€œwholesome booty talk.ā€ Anna’s comment has me reflecting.

I don’t ever stop a set to watch a woman squat, but I do watch them squat (and leg press) when I am between sets. What I find is that, at my gym, about 2/3’s of them don’t get deep enough to engage their glutes and hams. I feel pretty sure most are doing squats and leg presses to improve their hips and legs.

I am conflicted as to whether to offer my advise or not. I have long known that unsolicited advise is seldom taken well. I am rather old, okay, real old, being 72, so I don’t want to come off as a dirty old man. But with 53 years of experience and three decades of competition in bodybuilding, I’d like to give back to the sport. (BTW, I do offer help to the young men too, if I believe they might be receptive)

In my case I would like to believe that my booty advise would be taken as wholesome, but there is always the risk that it might come off creepy.

This isn’t creepy.

The First Commandment of Gym Etiquette is, Thou shalt not give unsolicited advice or feedback.

I always look at unsolicited lifting advice as I would any unsolicited advice.

When I see people eating food that is bad for them, I don’t give the nutrition advice.

When I see people drinking alcohol or smoking, I don’t give them health advice.

When I see people speeding, texting and driving, not coming to full stops at stop signs, etc, I don’t give them driving advice (although I do yell things)

No different in the gym. People who want advice will seek it out.

The worst advice IMO, is the stuff during a meet. Like I am going to change my squat form on my second attempt. I just ignore them. Sometimes it is advice mid lift. Like bro, if I could keep my chest up with this weight, I would.

My buddy and I took to yelling stupid advice at our last strongman competition, because it was just as valuable as anything else.

ā€œYou have anterior pelvic tilt! Walk sideways with the yoke! Supplement with zinc!ā€

I do the same thing at MMA events. I always yell ā€œGo for the gogoplata!ā€

I’ve started giving the advice of apply more vertical force to the bar. I don’t get a lot of pushback on that one. They usually seem to agree that it would help.

That was one of my more disappointing replies to someone at my second meet. Hit my opener on bench, missed my next two attempts.

ā€œDid you get a bad handoff? Was it the weight cut? Did you lose tightness?ā€

ā€œI am not strong enough to move that much weight.ā€

ā€œā€¦ohā€¦ā€
