yea 100%, that was a complete bail, no one is giving that, no matter how generous you are. The guys excuse for the first lockout is that he felt the straps tearing, but attempting a second rep makes that seem a little sus, ill give him the benefit of the doubt though, he had the strength to get it up.
Not to comp standard. Probably would’ve been straightforward enough for him to lean back with and hold for a sec such is his positioning but I think he was rushing thru and wanted to get into the second rep ASAP.
To be fair he only counted the first rep I think because he knew he could lockout to comp standard whereas the second rep was just a straight miss. The lockout is just the easiest part for his pulling style so he gets a bit sloppy when he wants to get max reps. I think I do the same on AMRAPs

Careful u don’t copy pasta pornhub links next time
Side view of lockout when he actually holds it. That’s not the issue anyways he loses like 150–200 lbs without straps somehow. Dunno how that works exactly

Maybe grip? Duffin bombed out in a meet with way less than 1000, grip is a common issue.
Ye maybe. Duffin had actual injuries or issues that made his grip shitty IIRC or at least that was his excuse. Didn’t pull hook either.
Last comp Dimitrov pulled hook. I’m under the impression that it isn’t really limited by grip strength if set well more like the integrity of ur hand/skin. I find with more weight the hook gets more secure at least for me. Can’t say I can hold onto 350kg or more but I’d give it a go because hook is some gourmet shit
Maybe his hands tear up at those weights. For stronger guys they do a lot more reps to get to their 3 attempts as well. I find my hook is good for a sessions worth of pulling like 25-30 reps total but hands definitely progressively get roughed up.
Anyway, here’s Wierzbicki with 1005
Is this safe to click?
Wierzbicki doesn’t seem like the type to have an Onlyfans page so I think you’re safe
G4P is where it’s at
Definitely not my kind of thing, but don’t let me stop you
I just say no homo and it’s ok
Don’t ask, don’t tell
It’s grip. Not just if he can hold it, it’s how much energy does it take to hold it? That energy is no not available to pull. It affects the speed of the pull too. You can pull so hard it pops out of your hands, necessitating a slower pull initially from the floor. Nothing like trying to accelerate because you feel it starting to slide in your hands, and the friction of the thighs on the bar just makes it that much harder to hold on.
Hmm there’s been studies and on average people pull a bit more with straps. More grip security less inhibition like u say and bit less ROM I think. Maybe I was using mixed grip though
If you’ve ever pulled with hook grip it’s not too far off straps. If functions off the friction between thumb, other fingers and bar so that holds most of the weight not ur actual grip strength like a straps friction on itself holds the weight. Also like with straps don’t have to apply much force through the hands to maintain that level of grip security. I’d give the edge to straps… just. It’s very close
Woolam is a pretty grippy and rippy hook puller

I never could hook grip. Big palms, stubby fingers.
Missing out brother. Classic excuse is me hands to small but guess it works the other way around also. All them fat ass SHW still use hook for what it’s worth. Not as bad on a weightlifting or deadlift bar because is thinner diameter
I have tried, I can’t seem to cinch the thumb well.
Takes a bit of playing around but I think most people can. If u just gonna use straps anyways don’t need at all.
Just thought to myself “is hook is banned for max grip or for time events in strongman?”
Not that I’m aware of. Very few things are banned, which is the beauty of it.
