Who Loves Seafood?

Who else here loves fish as much as I do? Maybe it’s just part of living right next to the ocean, but lately I can’t get enough of the stuff. Here’s what I have been feeding on the past 2 days… About 30 inches long, 8 pounds and fresh out of the water.

what variety is that? how do you prepare it? thanks.

Cooked fish doesn’t do much for me – I’d prefer sashimi everytime – but I do love me some crab, shrimp, lobster, crawfish and some homemade gumbo of course.

For me there is nothing better than a fillet of fresh yellow fin tuna…Blackened and cooked super rare…MMM, just as good as any steak out there IMO.

I fucking love seafood. The only species I can’t quite get my pallate around is raw eel, other than that it’s game on.

Looks like a nice King salmon you got there?

Saturday night I seared some scallops in butter and they were so damn good. Any chance I get to grub on seafood, raw or otherwise, I’m down. It’s usually how I guage a restaurant too, on how good they do their fish.

Hell yeah dude.

I’m not a fan of white fish. It’s pretty bland. I know, I know - if it’s prepared right it can be good, but that is too time-consuming IMO. White fish is also way too expensive for the actual amount of calories.

ProfessorCHAOS96-- sure I love seafood…looks great.

But I have have to ask why your avatar is an anti-American political cartoon penned by Carlos Latuff…a cartoonist who fiercely despises the good ole USA? Do you hate the USA?

It’s an Atlantic Salmon. I fillet the fish, de-bone it, and fry it on the George Foreman with a bit of lemon juice and garlic. Delicious.

The reason I buy it whole is because it comes out to about 1/2 price of the already filleted stuff. Which is awesome.

I’ll have to agree with you on that in most cases, however I would reccomend Codfish if you haven’t tried it already; it’s a great white fish. This fish (salmon) is pink though on that note, and it’s pretty calorie dense as well. I pay $8.80/kg for the stuff which works out to about $3.99/lb

I love salmon as much as chocolate and almost as much as coffee (so that is a lot  )

Salmon steaks are my favourite, grilled with a squeeze of lime and fresh basil. Delicious!! That wonderful texture and if you get a good fatty piece that has a nice moist layer of fat between each chunk of flesh…mmmm

I love all seafood but salmon is my favourite by far. Lobster used to be but not lately.

Yeah lobster is the gateway shellfish.

Gives you a introduction into the flavor, but there are much better, more pronounced flavors of seafood out there for sure.

OP you inspired me to get sushi last night. Thanks!

Salmon is my favorite as well. I will eat regardless of how it is prepared. If I had to choose I would eat it raw. Seafood is the shit IMO

I like Red Snapper bar-b-qued. Especially the throats. Takes a lil getting used to though.

I like fish but probably only eat fish maybe five times a week. I don’t like to prepare it much so I just buy fish already filleted and throw it on the foreman with lemon pepper.

Seafood is awesome, espcially salmon, lobster, and shark fin.

I’m a seafood junky. I’m just a spit in the wind south of you in Maine, so very similar fisheries.

Don’t know if you’ve seen my recipe thread, but there’s a couple fish dishes in there:

I fish year round and have about a 5 minute walk to a tidal river that is one of the most diverse spawning rivers in the US-- Alwives, Elvers, Striped Bass, Shad, Smelt, Sea Run Browns, Atlantic Salmon, etc all come up the river to spawn. Additionally, there’s a diverse salt water fishery as well (bluefish, stripers, mackerel, lobster, scallops etc). We have great fishing, and as a result of that, we eat a lot of fish

does Sushi count?
