Original question - ‘who can DL 700 raw?’

Creative interpretations

 • ‘Who knows some hyooge dude at your gym who can DL 700?’
 • ‘Who wants to share their dreams of DL’ing 700?’ “No really man, I’m at 570 but should be at 700 in about 3 months.”
 • ‘Who wants to share their current stats, irregardless of the post topic?’
Lol. I was thinking the exact same thing.
Lol…I know what you guys mean, but shit, if people can’t throw out their goals here (when they’re realistic and being worked towards aggressively), what’s the point? I recall a similar thread about people pulling 3x their bodyweight…
There should be a deadlift goals thread then if people wanted to throw them out there. I thought the point of this thread was to see who can deadlift 700 pounds. A 700 dead is pretty awesome and rare. Sadly, this thread is full of those stating that where they are currently at just because they think they have an impressive deadlift and want to tell people about it (and have to point out their weight to justify their strength).

Eh, I only stated my weight because it was at a PL meet, so it actually was significant.

Whatever…I’ll have a 700 lbs DL before TOO long, I promise you that.

haha i know it’s weird to me how people can pull more with a sumo stance i can’t even get closse to my numbers with that stance :/.

btw i’m not doing powerlifting anymore(oly weightlifting now) but last time i pulled heavy was on a high pin, 705. i’m not expecting heavy pulls anymore here i only snatch, c&j and squat.

Whether you pull more with sumo or conventional stance depends on leverages and muscular strengths of various bodyparts…it’s a very individual thing, deciding which to focus on and use for competition.

You see alot of sumo in geared lifting because gear tends to be more advantageous in that stance.

But you rarely see any truly epic pulls sumo, most of the greats are pulling conventional.

Sumo also tends to favor the leg strength more, so its generally preferred by guys who excel at legs, or girls, who’s legs, unlike upper body, fairly closely match the strength of males, pound for pound.

I’ve noticed that…I can’t seem to find the heaviest sumo deadlift.

Someday I intend to sumo deadlift over 900 lbs, true story.

Haha. I withdraw my poundage as it doesnt comply with the thread rules!

Bingo. Throw out a ‘who can bench 400 thread’ and there will be 800 replies with 3 people who actually put up video proof. Yet somehow we want to hear about your cousins’ brothers’ roommates’ friend of a friend who repped 500 20 years ago before breaking his neck during a keg stand gone awry.

There is no doubt in my mind that you will also, I just think it that its unnecessary to have any guy who thinks his deadlift is great post in this thread. It takes away from the accomplishments of mm, stormthebeach, that matt nolan guy, and others who actually fulfill the requirements and show how rare of an accomplishment it is.
HERC410 wrote:
not that its rare, just takes awhile.
I would have to say it is a rare thing. Me and a friend were talking a while back that if you were to populate a city only with people who could pull 700 plus it would be a very small city.

I don’t remember how we got on the topic but nither one of us would be living there at the moment but I sure as shit would make the commute to go to the gym.

Himora, is your pics at ECB down in Greenville?

It is, were I spend about 50% of what free time I do have.

It all depends what your comparing to. General population even 315 DL is considerably rare. Even out of all the people who spend a good amount of time in a gym I think 500 is pretty rare too. If your lucky enough to workout at a cool gym where its not there’s probably 10 nearby gyms of people that suck to bring down the average.

Also it seems that many of the guys that reach a level of development high enough to actually lift near the thousands…tend to be intaking enough calories per day to feed a quarter of Africa.

Power bellies tend to make conventional pulls impossible, only reasonably lean guys can pull it off without suffocating or blacking out.

And being 275+ and reasonably lean is no easy task.

Im a pretty strong 240 for a simple gym rat, but I will never have the sheer horsepower to pull monster weight without some serious weight gain.

I’d be more curious to know if anyone here has done it at 90kg or under…?

Pulled over 700 twice in comp weighing 210, in the gym a hand full of times weighing 205. Sorry, I know you asked if anyone can do it at 90kg. I really messed up this thread.
