Also , I must say only on the internet could a discussiond have basically had 2 replies saying “Yeah, OP, people should put their weights away. What’s your point?” turn into 5 pages …so far.
I’m going to start a thread like “Water is Wet” or “1+1=2” and see how weird it gets.

Gee, I do believe I have written about 4 times in this thread that I DO NOT TRAIN AT PEAK TIMES. What do you think that means? If I actually had a problem with people waiting on machines after me, then you just might have a point. I don’t know how things work where you are, but most people don’t seem to rush up to guys over 250lbs to work in with them or to rush them off of a machine. I have simply never experienced this and if such a thing did occur, I would help whoever it is remove plates from the machine.
What the hell is the big deal?
But what about midgets that can’t reach the weights? What about those that can’t lift 45s? What about those with back problems? What about those who have OCD? Haha…
I don’t see what the big deal is either. As regards leg press, I think it’s only courtesy to leave a few weights on there so the next person can warmup quickly and without having to search for more weights. If the stack is still too heavy even after the person before you has taken weight off, take a bit more off…if it’s still too heavy, take a bit more off, if it’s still too heavy (and you don’t have joint problems) - you needn’t bother using the machine.
I hate it when people get all judgemental with the tidiness of the weights. Don’t get me wrong, I do tidy up after myself, but I don’t become an ass to those “dizzy” individuals/teens who don’t have the common sense to clean up after themselves.
Besides that, I was once doing supersets of biceps/triceps (ages ago), I put the EZ bar on the floor for just a few seconds while doing barbell curl…and this obnoxious, hairy fat man immediately said “are you done with that?!” As if to say, “you just gonna leave that on the floor???” - I wasn’t even finished with it! It’s just because I was new to that gym and young compared to him - so automatically that makes me an inexperienced little brat who makes a mess.

I know, right? The kitchen is nice and close. I can’t tell you the number of times I’ve superset squats and washing the dinner dishes. In the summer it was cutting the grass supersets. Most recently it’s been helping my daughter with her math homework. Sadly this is all true and is a vote for a commercial gym.
yea but wait till someone comes in and points out the fallacy in that equation I posted. ;-)
You mean in step 5?
I can’t remember ever not stripping the bar, but I don’t always rack the weights. Admittedly, once in a blue moon may just be laziness. I do feel that I’ve racked FAR more weights than I’ve ever taken out tho
If they were already leaning up against the rack/bench when I got there, I may leave them where I found them. Seems about as arbitrary a place as any.
Sometimes the floor may just be the best place. My gym’s squat racks have 3 pegs on each side. Great, one for 45s, one for 35s, one for 25s. Now where do the dimes nickels and 2.5s go? There’s no logical order for this. it usually winds up with a peg for 10s and 5 (still annoying,) one for 25s and one for 35s, with the 45s leaned up against the rack and the 2.5s hidden throughout the gym like a frigging easter egg hunt.
In the same vein, sometimes I dont rack because other weights are on the designated peg. Eg, if there’s a 10 and a 25 where a 45 is supposed to go, I’m not going to add to the problem by putting a 45 over it. I understand that the best solution would be to re-rack the 25 and 10 in their proper place, but I’m not compulsive enough to spend my training time doing so. I’ll leave that to the OCDs
I leave the gym cleaner than I found it. If at least half the people at my gym followed the same idea, the gym would remain tidy.
There was one time when there was plenty of dumbbells scattered like a minefield, if I tripped I could end up with a dumbbell in my back. I almost did trip.

Took me a while to find the flaw. I’ll keep my mouth shut though.
Gyms generally resemble their owner. If the owner keeps the weights on the rack is much easier to single a person out for not putting weights back. I’ve almost always put my weight back it annoys me to see weights on the bar, the only time I don’t is if a guy I know warms up with 135 is following me or if I’m at a shitty gym… I refuse to be the ONLY person at the gym putting the weights back…
I’ve seen a gym go through a complete transformation because of the people running it. In the end the people who work there have to be responsible for putting weights back, theres always going to be a few assholes who don’t. It doesn’t take more then a couple of seconds for the employees to put the weights back, and non assholes will know to put the weightback.
I put most of my weights away, except when i see a personal trainer who works for the gym pull out a bunch of plates or bells with a client and then leave all them out and walk away. yes i rarely see any of the trainers at my gym put weights back.

I think I worded that poorly. What I meant to say was “Avoiding people like you (MikiB) are exhibit A for why a home gym is the best option”. I feel the need to clear that up in case my wife reads this and decides to bring her gun home from work.
I was planning to lift at Belle River. Qualifying was my big goal of the summer. But after I qualifed, I didn’t really feel that into another round of training with the gear right away. I was kind of on the fence at that point, but then my wife and I looked at the cost involved (she would have had to take time off from work too) and I just didn’t feel like it was worth it.

I actually knew what you meant in your post. The sad fact is that I end up supersetting with household chores when I’m training at home. It gives a new meaning to power clean.
I looked for your name on the list. I was hoping to talk to the spouse with the gun. I’ll just have to email I guess
Guys, I have a confession, one time my gym (see the video I put on page 4 I think) was really really bad, I mean stuff everywhere there were more DBs on th efloor than the racks, so I decided to do a tour of the gym with more of a conditioning thing in mind, and I used most every DB and dropped them on the floor, and lots of the Hammer machines and used all the 10s and 5s and made an even bigger mess in the hope that it would be a hintto the staff to be more strict. I’m in Asia you see, and it’s hard to describe but if someone is a jerk here doing something that inconveniences others, very few other poeple will say anything. I was alone at the time and it was about 7AM. I not too proud of how angry I was.
